Works great. Had to reset once when the battery died on the door side of the unit, but customer service is awesome! Caution: Installation instructions suck. Unless the company has updated the installation instructions, be careful about following them blindly. Think about how the device works when connect the wires to make sure you're correcting the right wires Highly recommended.
I love that I get notifications when my garage door is open or closed. It helps because a few times we had the garage open all night. Thank God no one came by to take anything. I used to have a problem with this app. It kept logging me out now and then. But, now for the past 4 months, I haven't had that issue anymore. I get every notification and I stay logged in. Plus, I can open and close my garage with my Alexa devices and Google too.
The app works fine but I would like to see a function added to the Alexa skill set. Based on time or temperature open the garage door a percentage set by owner as a Rule (app) or routine (Alexa). Summer temperatures are very high where I live and it would be great if the door would rise a few inches to help vent the space automatically.
The garage door opener is smooth and very quiet. The app using wifi is a wonderful option to have as you can open your garage door anywhere for deliveries while away from home. only reason I give a 4 is the remotes that came with the opener are not good because they hardly work. I had to get the separate openers and those work great.
App works well enough. Unfortunately, because this particular version of the app manages to crash less than once-a-week, I can see that my garage door opener drops off line within a day of "resetting" it. Cycling the power usually works to restore the network connection, but I have had to go through the whole "set-up" routine a few times over the last couple of years. No other wireless things in the house have this network problem.
Initial install is very easy and straightforward if you have minimal handyman skills, know a hammer from a screwdriver. Wifi is a bit difficult to initially set-up, but once connected it auto reconnects flawlessly after power or wifi outages. If you could turn the light on and off with the app, I would give it 5 stars. Don't know how difficult or expensive that feature would be, but it already has wifi switch activation, so one more relay should have been a no-brainer.
This was very tedious to set up but it may be the wifi limitations of the opener rather than the app. My phone had a very strong wifi signal but the opener couldn't find it at all. I eventually moved my router to the garage and it worked like a charm. After it finished setting up, I then moved my router back into the house but to a room closer to the garage. It works great now. App gets buggy if you go to a different window briefly to see your password so you can enter it. Improve this please!
So far, I have set up notifications that were removed when the app automatically updated. I have run into issues with it not connecting when I leave my Wi-Fi. I have also run into issues where it forces me to log back in to the app. All in all, not very user-friendly. UPDATE: This latest version has improved the "user-friendliness" tremendously. No more forgetting all of my settings. No more repeatedly logging in. It still has trouble with knowing the position of the door when partially opened.
The good: The app works well for basic functions. I find it's responsive and I like the ability to set up a schedule to close my doors at night in case I forget. I like that I can fine tune access I give to others. The bad: The app needs more functionality. A garage door opener app that isn't compatible with Android Auto makes no sense. It also needs more functions like being able to automatically open or close doors when arriving to, or leaving home. Fix those things and it's a five-star app.
Needs work. The app doesn't notify me at all half the time when my door is opened or closed, and the rest of the time the notifications aren't persistent, they flash for half a second and are gone. Their tech support doesn't have any solutions either. "Try logging out and back in!" Yea, done that a dozen times, the problem is your app.
No indication or control of lights. Occasionally a door gets disconnected from WiFi, needs physical access to reconnect. Occasionally service breaks (most recently out of service for multiple days). Fairly commonly, one of our two HDOs shows as open, even though it is actually closed. Remote's buttons are mushy, very difficult to tell which button you are pressing on the dark. Customer service, when I've needed it was good (but call wait times are on the long side)
I like it when it works, even though it's a bit slow in responding. It has some nice features, but it is just not reliable enough for a higher rating. Today, it actually failed in a way that was a security risk, by opening the door and recording the event history as failing to close the door based on a rule to close it if left open for an hour, when the door had already been closed manually an hour before. That is a serious problem! Sensor battery & wifi signals are strong. Software is bad!
Yeah, let's make everything Bluetooth because it's so much better to have to get onto a ladder to unplug and replug things because your phone and y opener on the wall won't work because the Bluetooth light that you don't care about didn't register properly that time. It's so nice to have to sit there and troubleshoot and deal with things instead of just having to run a pair of wires. There should be an option to override all the safety things because I'm the owner, it's my hardware.
I would not recommend this product. If I could give it 0 stars, I would. The opener frequently loses its connection & can only be fixed by resetting its power. Other devices, even those further from the router & with more walls in between, don't have this issue. In fact, there is only a window & a thin garage door between the router & opener. This becomes a major inconvenience when someone doesn't have a garage door opener in their car or when we need to let people in when we we're not home.
UL LOCKOUT error. You're then forced to manually open or close the door with a wall button just to regain access through the app. This defeats the purpose of remote access and feels like an unnecessary restriction! Even more frustrating, the Genie/Aladdin Connect app frequently signs us out, sometimes several times a week. This becomes a major hassle when trying to quickly open the garage from the driveway or let someone in remotely.
Total POS. Sad, because it only has to do 2 THINGS: OPEN AND CLOSE...THAT'S IT, yet it's repeatedly down or locked out, with incomprehensible error messages and no remedy. I've finally given up on this app after years of struggle with it. Back to manual controls. (BTW the installation instructions were so bad I had to call customer service number and even they couldn't explain them.)
Your app and hardware attached to it is junk. It is offline more than it is online. It has nothing to do with my Wi-Fi. All my other Wi-Fi devices work perfectly... Always... Even those in the garage near this piece of junk. I am going to get rid of Alladin connect completely. Most unreliable equipment I've ever owned. If I could rate it negative 10, I would...
This is the worst app I've ever used. It fails to connect to Wi-Fi, despite having a mesh router within six feet of it. It has an atrocious interface that asks if you want to delete the garage door opener if you have any slight lateral movement when pressing the graphical button. It constantly needs to be reset if you somehow get it working. Furthermore, the app crashes when scanning the barcode or entering the serial manually to add an opener. I would rate this app zero starts if possible.
I have the app hooked up to 3 different doors, straight to 2 openers and 1 retrofit unit. The retrofit unit lately has been having issues about saying that it's offline in the app even though it still has a green light on the unit itself that means it is connected. Frustrating!! I've called in and had to unplug everything and delete the door then add it back to get it to work again. That lasted about a week and here we are again. Please fix. Still not fixed 5 months later.
Hot garbage. Just by design, the app has a crucial flaw: you have to long-press on the icon to open the door, but the app registers your press as a swipe and keeps trying to refresh your door list. Frequent crashes and connection failures plague the app itself, while Genie's Aladdin network is constantly down. I bought this specific opener not only for mobile access, but also Alexa integration and name recognition. None of that works. I 100% regret it.
