Edit: Might have been the battery saver settings. The launcher was probably the issue. Though I removed saving from the app and the launcher. Thanks dev! Not bad, but widget doesn't update. I can click the widget to open the app and you can see an updated forecast. But the widget never updates. I've tried all the frequency options.
This app is excellent. You get a ongoing notifications if you are like me and are constantly interested on the day to day weather. You can get warned about rain so you stay dry during your commute. You have the benefit of looking at days, hourly timelines, radar, week weather, all in one place. Also one of the only places that gets to keep using the Dark Sky API for super accurate forecasts on android. Not to mention the amazing developer who takes the rare bugs seriously and is prompt to address them.
I had an iPhone until about a year ago and Dark Sky was my favorite weather app. After moving to android I had to find another weather app and just couldn't land on one that had everything I was looking for. I landed on Appy Weather after trying a bunch of different ones, and I'm really really enjoying it. It has a beautiful, clean, simple interface, and has all of the information I'm looking for and presented in a direct, informational way. Absolutely worth the download.
Sometimes I just want a few words that describe what the day is going to look like instead of having to parse through a busy dashboard. This app is the best I've found for doing that. I do wish it had more options, such as font choices or the ability to pin certain measurements to the top (I need to keep an eye on wind speeds), but I appreciate this app for what it sets out to do and doing it well.
Best dark sky alternative. With dark sky shutting down, had to find a new weather app. Have downloaded several, and Appy by far was the best UI/UX comparatively. I like that It's simple, not cluttered, gives you data you want or care about, and customizable! So far very happy with it and would recommend. My only suggestion to the devs would be don't use straight black for dark mode. And for the ellipsis drop down menu, offset the sub menu text to make it easier to read and look less busy.
Like many others, I've been looking for a Dark Sky replacement, and I think I found it in Appy Weather. For me, the widget that shows upcoming conditions is essential, and Appy's does what I need. The app's displays are clean and informative. And when I had a minor issue with upgrading to the paid options the developer responded almost instantly. Definitely recommended.
I like this app. Clean and simple. Few things though! Would love the nav bar to match the app body in the light theme. Also...the weather icons in the app...options would be awesome. Edit: Thanks for the reply! Yes the system Nav Bar for light and dark themes. And AWESOME! More font and icon options are always great. Any way notifications can be similar to that app that left Android users high and dry? Again, GREAT WORK!!!
After using the first 6 or so weather apps on the play store and being disappointed with all of them, I've finally found something that makes me feel confident enough to delete Dark Sky. Appy is awesome. With precipitation notifications, a solid UI, and tab-style weather selection, I'm hooked. Bought premium after a day because a new I found a gem. For all the Dark Sky expats looking for something to fill the void, this is the only viable option.
Beautiful design and thoughtful information. I love how the app has views for Hourly, Timeline, and Daily. It allows me to see weather at the appropriate granularity. And the widgets are exactly what I was looking for - minimal and informative. I prefer the 24hr colorized 5x2. This is a great replacement for Dark Sky. I've subscribed immediately!
The ability to to from hourly to weekly so quickly is awesome. Really cool to see precipitation, cloud cover, etc as well and switch between time ranges too. To switch from temperature to the other measurements, you need to swipe the handlebar up just a little bit, if you swipe it up too much then you'll just get the option to change the location. Maybe this is something they can improve in the future :) Oh, and the support is awesome!
Beautiful, clean UI. I wanted a Dark Sky replacement, and this is the ship I'm sailing with! Great notification tray options, nice widgets, nice customizations. A lot of weather apps have the same amount of data, but they LOOK like they do too. This one manages to pack in all the goodies and still look simple.
It's Ok. I went pro for a little bit because knowing when rain is on the way as it is critical to my work. Dark Sky used to do this reliably and Appy could not, the interface was oversimplified, and also too much useless info with no way that I could find to adjust. Its good, and I may circle back but right now it doesn't seem to be what I need.
A nice android Dark Sky replacement. I installed and uninstalled quite a few weather apps before resting here. I found myself coming back to this one. If the accuracy holds up after the Dark Sky API expires, it should be your go to weather app. Would hope to see some weather animations like lightning, thunder, rain drops, wind, snow like with other apps but, not a deal breaker. Also, I advise the developer to offer a free trial subscription to see what features you'd be getting for a paid commitment.
Not that great, poor quality, errors. Paid for it. **Update: Bardi, no need for refund. I am a landscaper still recovering from the loss of DarkSky from Android, and while I'm already trying another paid app, I would very much like to see you update and be the best App on the market. Features I have come to expect are temperature on the status bar, chance of rain front and center with the extended forecast, and alerts warning me that I have 10-30 minutes before precipitation hits. That feature is a life, team moral and equipment saver. Clicking through more than the first level of information is too much time. I can elaborate a little more and would be happy to continue to make comments through updates if your interested.
Not all features available. It's also not really a free app. Widget requires payment for use. Otherwise, an ad shows that you can't get around and tells you to buy the premium version of appy to get it to work. Inconvenient to manually open the app. Rather just use my free sidebar weather again. Beautifully designed content though.
I like how they display data, but in the last few days, it's become comically inaccurate with precipitation levels. For example, today we got a fine layer of ice and sleet, but the app said 6 inches of snow. Saturday it's saying over 6 inches but every other forecast is saying around 1 inch. It's just way off lately. Looking for a new app.
Used to work well, but now it never updates, and my widget is constantly a blank, white space. I've been paying for the app for over 2 years, but I am totally frustrated that it never loads anymore. Even when I open the app to see the weather, the whole app is a blank, white screen. It's part of my morning routine function because I've relied on it for so long, but now it looks like I'll have to uninstall it.
