Before the update you could see the cover of all the books you had available to read in your library. Now you have to scroll through either by author or title and click on each to see them. Of course you can see recent ones that way, but I want to see all my books like it was before. Plus I have to do this with all my archived books also which takes forever if you can’t remember who wrote it or the exact title. I do not understand why they had to change that aspect of the app. Bring that option back, please!! Ok, they let me know I could view them that way by title or most recent, which is good, but why take away the choice by author? For those of us that read a lot this seems like a crazy change to make, this is a reading app after all, anything available in title should be available in author also(the same format). So, still no 5 stars because of that. Don’t understand why you changed that option:( Thank you for listening and adding back the choice to search by author or title with the book cover. I am very happy!! You get your 5 stars back:) Hi JAMarsh65, you can still view your Library items by cover -- all you have to do is open the sort/filter menu (tap the bolded text along the top left that likely says “All Types by Author”) and Sort By “Most Recent” or “Title.” You can also change to Filter By Archived, to view just the items you've archived. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to our Support team or visit the FAQs for tips and tricks on getting the most out of the new experience.

I absolutely love having the Barnes & Noble Nook app on my phone. It's an indispensable companion for those times I don't have my Nook Glowlight readily available. The reliable syncing across devices means I can always pick up right where I left off, no matter which Nook I'm using. For me, Nook isn't just about reading; it transports me to a happy place, filled with cherished memories, like those peaceful vacation reads in Marco Island. Thank you for the Nook app and Glowlight.

NOOK rocks! I have a Kindle, but it's just for portable web search & games. I've been reading via NOOK since 2010. I love feel, smell, everything about a real book, but having so many books that I can slip in a purse is amazing! Surface reads like a real book. Adjustable font size and light weight make it a great option for seniors, as well.

I used to have a Nook, but abandoned it after I saw that the App Store's nook app is better than the Nook itself. There's not as much lagging with page turn animations, it's more stable, the different color schemes look better, overall it's just better. Now I've also tried the Kindle app, and what really sells me on the Nook is the book stacking feature. I own Piers Anthony's series Xanth which is currently 34 books and running, and it definitely helps to have all those Xanth books in an automatic collapsable folder. Now some book series are filed under slightly different series names so you have a series split into 2 folders, but I see less and less of them with each update. Unless you're designing your own ebook reading app, I believe Nook is the best out there. 2019 update: Overall impressions unchanged. Nook has continued with quality of life and stability updates while Kindle on iOS lags behind. Series breaking greatly reduced. I don’t believe any in my current library suffer this issue. Kindle is no longer an option for me, even with Amazon’s occasional sales.

Wont let me search for a book/author not sure if it’s a bug with the program or what but it just started. I was able to search not even an hour or two ago. Still great app love the convenience. Not working on iPad or mobile. I have been using this app for a while now and recently today I’ve had problems using the search bar on both my iPad and Mobile. I tried everything I could think of and thought the best thing to do was delete it off one device. I deleted it from my mobile device and re downloaded the app. Upon login I couldn’t view any of my books. When I tried going to the website it said I didn’t have any there either. Upon looking on my iPad I did have all the books still on that device Only. I’m unsure if this is a glitch or bug or anything but I like having the app on both devices because, obviously, I do not always carry my iPad with me. I would very much appreciate it if these issues could be looked at. It is also no longer appearing online when I log in there I have no idea what happened but nothing is on my devices and Ik I have purchased multiple books with barns and noble I can’t get any help fixing this problem I am over seas and can not call nor do I have access to get help from them. The only proof I have that I got these books are on my iPad. Hi Bated, please use the Send Feedback > Book Problem method within the app to report this issue by selecting all of the affected books. We will then be able to better investigate and get you reading again ASAP.

it's a great app very convenient especially while I'm at work as I don't always have the time to be able to read my book for hours and flip the pages for hours like I prefer. I only wish there was a way to look up the books a narrator reads. I hope that makes sense. I am a very finicky audiobook listener. and most voices screech at my nerves. but there are a very few that can not only keep my attention but know how to tell a story. I would love to be able to look up what books they narrate.

I generally like this app and have used it or a version of it on several devices. However, after a recent reinstall because of problems with it crashing a lot, it no longer does accessibility (text-to-voice). Which is a feature I use sometimes. The feature is still listed, but it seems to freeze and won't work when you turn it on. Contacted tech support. Did all the normal reboot-signout-clear-cache-etc. things they suggested. Nothing. They said they were kicking it up to the next level of tech support and someone would contact me. No one ever did.

. this app isn't overall too bad but I got this specifically so that I could get one series that I absolutely loved when I was a kid. And I wanted to get the audiobook version but we weren't able to get that on top of that it was nowhere close to free. no matter where I am it'll take 3 to 5 seconds to open in to the books I have bought. but it works pretty well offline I think.b

This app needs an update to make moving more than one book at a time easier. I have issues going through all my 10,000 books and maneuvering them from one profile to another, deleting the extras, and moving them to my shelves. It would be easier to just click all the books you want to move and then move them, delete them, or maneuver them to a different profile instead of doing it individually.

I wanted to support Barnes and Noble, but this app has lots of problems. The page turning looks cool, but if you go back to the last page, when you flip forward it skips pages and you have to keep trying to get it back on track. The time estimates are off and didn't adjust. It would say that I had 30+ minutes left in a chapter that took 5 minutes. I couldn't highlight anything. The dictionary routes you to Google or Wikipedia. Overall not great, but I was able to read the book.

As a platform for ebooks, it's fine. The font and brightness controls work well; you can bookmark pages and highlight. BUT...I have been reading a book I purchased and downloaded and it keeps getting "stuck" on a certain page and throwing me backwards hundreds of pages. I literally cannot access the second half of the book. I've uninstalled/reinstalled the book and app--nothing. And NO reply on the chat/ask for help feature. Lousy service. B&N took my money and gave me nothing in return.

I was hoping for a viable alternative to the Kindle; this app doesn't work, though. Specifically, it frequently forgets where I left off reading my book. I'll open the app and it'll load my book ... to the cover page. There's nowhere to even look at stats to see where the "furthest read" is, as with Kindle. I asked for help and was given generic advice about deleting and redownloading the app - which helped for about 5 seconds. This is a really basic eReader function, guys. Get it together!

Horrible app. crashes constantly and doesn't save your chapter when it comes back up. Took me 2 days to read a book that should have been hours. Randomly would define words then the box wouldn't go away. Sometimes it would just go back to chapter 1. If I had paid for this book I would have DNF for sure. I bought this book through B&N because it wasn't found anywhere else. Kindle is my go to and I will never use this app again.

This app crashes so much that my phone gave me a notification that it crashes too much. I deleted cache and even reinstalled it but it's so bad I have to use the web reader. However since I'm reading a light novel which includes the occasional drawing the web reader shows the drawings as broken links so I have to try to figure out how to see it in the app without the app crashing. It's an extremely frustrating experience. This is the first and last Nook book I'll buy.

Recent app update is broke. Now the app shuts down when I try to move to the next page. Does this with all my recent purchases. The page it happens to varies with each different book. Tried all the usual fixes: cleared cache, unistalled/reinstalled app, removed & then downloaded the books. All to no avail. The dictionary link also stopped working. It only offers Google or Wiki search for word definitions. I'm going back to Kindle app for my books, magazines & newspapers.

I am using the app to listen to an audiobook on an Android phone. The app stops frequently and upon restarting never starts at the point of the book where it stopped. It does not accurately keep track of chapters read and must be manually reset to previous stopping point. the only way to ensure that book's stopping point is to set a bookmark manually which defeats the purpose of trying to have a hands free experience. The app is even worse while using Anfroid auto in the car.

Was unable to read my purchased ebook on either the online or app Nook. 100 pages left of my book, and I can't even get the app to open without crashing. Also, you can't skip ahead in a book. It estimates your reading speed, and you have to wait until the estimated time has passed before turning the page. Contacted customer support and received no answer other than "we're sorry you're having issues." No help or suggestions were offered. I'll be deleting the app and sticking with my Kindle. 0/5

The app will lock your account with the wrong password too many times. This doesn't seem bad, but you need a new complex password every time. It's super easy to get stuck in a loop of getting locked out of your account and contacting support. But, customer support ONLY needed my email address to unlock my account. What's the point of all this when there's such a massive security hole?! Everyone's account can be hacked 100% just with the email address?! Come on, guys!! Do better.

App has stopped working. My books are frozen, keep rebooting and cannot turn the pages, Stuck on the same page or two. it worked fine till the recent update. I have reinstalled several times with no luck. I have contacted customer service with no luck. Followed all the recommendations and it still won't work on my phone. This is a recent problem so I think it's the latest update that is causing all the problems. Until they create a fix and update the app again it will remain a one rating.

I used to love my nook app - it was easy to use for all ages. There have been so many unnecessary changes rolled out so poorly that no one in the family wants to use their nooks because the app keeps changing, is counterintuitive, and frustrating - they’ve all downloaded kindle instead, and have asked me to simply buy paper books. Problems include: I can’t sort my archive - while it appears as an option in another family member’s profile, my profile does not have that option. With more than 400 books in my archive, it’s extremely difficult to find the books I want to read. Even if I know the author and exact title, the search function does not call up books we know are in the archive - they appear when I scroll through the archive, but not in search. Additionally, here’s the most ironic bug: the send feedback/report a bug feature doesn’t work - you can type, but the “send” button is grayed out and unavailable. Every time there’s an update I have to spend several hours scouring the FAQs to see if they took away functions or if we’re just seeing a bug, then analyze whose profile and account works correctly, then try it figure out why some family members have x function but others don’t. EVERY update at least one family member’s account or profile has a bug; and now, to even report the sorting bug, I had to go into one of my kids’ profiles since I couldn’t! Hi KA, thanks for this feedback. These issues were not previously reported to us. The archive sorting issue for secondary profiles will now be fixed in the next release. But in the meantime, you can fix this by signing out and signing back into your account. We are not able to reproduce the search or feedback bugs. The feedback form is dependent on you having Apple Mail set up, so please ensure that is true. We would love to be able to receive that mail because it may help shed light on the search issue. To discuss further, you can also use the customer service email link found on NOOK’s App Store page.

I have been using this app since 2016 and haven't had any problems until the last few months. I have done everything I am supposed to do on my end, ie. uninstall and reinstall, clear cache, and I have even put the majority of my library on cloud. I will be reading and the book closes and reads an error has occurred. I have been forced to use nook on the web which is frustrating in its self but at least I can get pass a certain spot in my book. The past update didn't fix the issue.

I had to buy an E-Book through barnes and Nobel for school. WHICH can only be found through barnes and Nobel (I looked everywhere without pirating) which at first I did not mind. But. On top with only being able to find the book on barnes and Nobel. I was also forced to use this god forsaken app. The first thing I did was try to figure out how i can use the app. But the features are limited. It’s like they intentionally made it as difficult as possible to even enjoy the app. First of all. God forbid you try adjusting the text size because it’ll put your book in a blender and won’t be able to understand where anything is at. 2nd. Good luck finding a specific page. Bc both iPad and phone version won’t let you turn pages until at least 7 seconds passes between page turn. And the page finder is way to slow to even use that functionally. There are so many features missing compared standard industry practices like kindle or even just having a pdf version. Like being able to write and take notes on the page. Can’t do that. Or even highlighting properly. What I’m getting at. Is this entire app has ruined me so much so. That is just down right disrespectful. How a million dollar company like B&N would even agree to partner with nook or even call this passable platform to handle E-Books. I might as well pirates a PDF bc at least a PDF I can take proper notes on and it won’t completely hinder my ability to conduct my school work. Sorry to hear you've encountered these issues. We'd love for you to reach out so we can investigate your concerns further. You can use the in-app feedback option by going to Profile>Settings>Send Feedback>Report Bugs or you can just shoot an email over to us at [email protected].

It's bad. As other reviewers have said, it doesn't remember your place in the book. It often has syncing issues (with a persistent notification that only goes away if you force close the app). When trying to turn to the next page, sometimes it goes to the same page, sometimes to the previous page, sometimes several pages ahead. This is unacceptable for such a huge company. I do not recommend it.

Good until the ransom. Can't remember if it was back in 2019 or 2020 but for like, 2 months this app was unusable. Couldn't access purchased content or purchase new content. when it was restored, my wishlist was destroyed and certain books I bought were no longer available. Now i mainly use it to listen to audiobooks. Except i can't. 9 times out of 10 it won't load. I click to listen and nothing happens. it's outrageously frustrating. FIX IT.

I loved Nook; I have over 1000 titles. However, I can only think that B&N no longer wants my business. I still believe this to be 0. I still have the "stuck pages" issue- like it will from 15 to 17, and only rebooting the app will get them unstuck again. I bow have a spinning circle on every book, and resigning in and deleting and redownloading does not fix it. tech support offers no other recourse. If you cannot support your app, let me download the books to a working app, please.
