I use this app mostly for saving on gas. Why not save a few bucks on what u will end up buying anyhow. Super simple to use, too. Just pick a gas offer before u pump. Get a receipt, snap a pic and that's it. Super easy. I've been using this app for about 2 years now and have received around $500 back to date! I usually cash out at 50 or 100 bucks. I'm super excited that Venmo was added for a way to claim your money! I used to just wait for the checks in the mail.
*Edit* Adding to my original review from 2017 to say that my opinion has not changed. This is a great app. I have cashed out numerous times and have always received my money. My total cash back is $356. 06/03/2017 - I love it so far! I have only been using it for a week and already have a balance of $13. I haven't had any issues with the app; it's very easy to use for scanning offers, starring your favourites, and uploading your receipts.
I have enjoyed using co51 very much and it's become one of my favorite cash back apps to use. Easily. Overall, it's very straightforward, easy to use, fair cash back amounts and the receipt / cash back process is not only quick, efficient, and transparent, but if there's a dispute, its easy to appeal and you get an answer back within 1-2 days. EVERY TIME. There aren't an overwhelming amount of offers which makes it easier to focus on the 20-25 that are available each week. Try it yourself!!
I'm new to this app, but so far, so good! The one thing I would really like to see on this app is more products to redeem and not limiting how many people can redeem an item. I've bought items only to find out when I go to redeem them the items are not available anymore, kinda frustrating.. orherwise it's nice when I can get thst cash back.
very fair and straightforward. the offers are easy to see, navigate and select, and redeem. There aren't so many offers that it's difficult to choose, there are so many each week (refresh once a week) that you can either use or not use lol. important to note that they ABSOLUTELY DO PAYOUT! I've personally never heard of anyone having an issue and my guess is that if someone IS having an issue they most likely did something they shouldn't and don't want to admit it 😂
I have been with Checkout 51 for a few years. Love the app. I have never had any problems. I have noticed too that I get paid much faster than I used to which is definitely a plus !!! I have made over $100.00 since I have been with them...The only reason I did not give them a perfect score is I do wish they would add more offers. That is my only complaint!!
I love this APP & I’ve saved a lot of $$...Thanks to “Checkout 51”! For that reason, I would’ve easily given “Checkout 51” a five star rating, but the reason for my four star rating is...I’ve been having problems w/the availability of the rebates! Whenever I get excited because i see a offer for an item that I will be purchasing, I get ready to add the offer on my list, then I see that it says “0” (meaning I will not be able to get the extra savings that I could’ve, because the offer has reached the limit)! And what’s frustrating is...now w/more & more people finding out & using “Checkout 51”, I’ve noticed that majority of the offers on their APP, have reached the limit (especially if it’s a popular item)! The other thing I feels their APP needs work on is...when the offer is no longer available, it still shows up w/all the other available offers. I would prefer it if they would remove the offers that are no longer available! Other than that, this is a GREAT APP to save $$, & it’s REALLY SUPER EASY TO USE!!! One more important thing to remember...it’s not “Checkout 51’s” fault for running out of rebates. Every offer has a limit from the manufacturer, & when that limit is reached, then that offer is no longer available on “Checkout 51”. That’s why when a new week starts, you gotta be fast, before they run out! Hi DeidreKira, we're glad we can help you save! Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review :-) Quantities are limited for all our offers, so hot items can run out quickly. We always encourage our members to check the app before they go shopping to ensure they don't miss out!
I’ve been using CheckOut51 in addition to numerous other receipt/cash back apps. I’d say roughly for every $25 I accrue on similar apps, I accrue about $1 on CheckOut51 in comparison. This is mostly because the cash back offerings are minimal (usually about 40-50 of the same products for a few months at a time) and on seemingly very random/niche-type products. It’s definitely towards the bottom of my list in terms of favorite receipt scanning apps, but I have learned over the years how to make this app work for me specifically through redeeming gas deals. Again, it is specific in terms of having to pay with a debit or credit card and this being displayed on the receipt. For some reason, it takes about 5-7 days on average to be credited for each gas receipt, so that is probably the top thing I’d love to see a bit of improvement on. Also, I wish they’d broaden their product/brand offerings or at least switch it up more often! Overall, a decent app if you can find the hidden gems inside and/or happen to purchase the products offered on a regular basis! Hi, thank you for your feedback! We really want to bring you more awesome offers! So, we have created a 'Suggestion Box' for our members. Simply send an email to [email protected] with a list of your favourite items. This feedback will be reviewed and forwarded to our brands team in an effort to bring more offers to you. We will take this on board and hopefully this will enable you to save more! :-)
The biggest problem with this app is that you select an offer, but when you purchase it and go to redeem, there are zero remaining. Most people shop once a week but this app expects you to run out on Thursday to shop if you want the savings. Irony is that the same offer is likely to be available the following week. Tired of it. Plus the number of items that we actually buy has dropped considerably.
I've had this app for years, and it was pretty good for quite awhile. I don't know what's going on, but the offers have gotten fewer and fewer, and more than half of them aren't even for food items anymore. Positive things are you can use many offers multiple times. Cons are not enough selection, you can't stack coupons, the items available are often for really niche stuff that isn't going to appeal to most people, and more than half the time there's an issue with your receipt.
All about the fine print. Checkout 51 has limited items to get money back on but I don't think that's the worst thing. The real problem is most people use multiple $ back apps/discount apps and cash back credit cards and so if you use any of these, Checkout 51 will deny your receipt. So when you do the math you got to ask yourself is it worth using this app for just a couple cents when you can possibly do better with other apps and credit card rewards. Something to weigh.
This app is not worth your time. I have used this app for the past 7 years and have only accumulated less than $200. Their offers stink. They rarely offer anything I use. They have the same offers for weeks and weeks at a time and when the offers have been all claimed, it takes them forever to replace them with new valid ones. They recently added surveys to help add money to your account, but every time I try one it freezes or kicks me out. Don't waste your time!
There are very few coupons to use. Each coupon can only be used at certain stores. So the concept is great, but it's a very restrictive app in practice. Thank you for the offer to explain how some retailers only allow their coupons to be used in certain stores. I understand this perfectly. It doesn't change that there are so few coupons and the restrictions placed on the ones you do have; make this app much less useful than others out there. ;)
What I liked: there's not an overwhelming amount of cash back offers so you can quickly scroll through them all. I didn't feel like I needed an hour just to look at everything like w/ ibotta. I didn't like: my phones Device Care has 6 alerts for this app due to it "may be causing issues with phone, including malware, app crashes, high battery use." - I've yet to make enough to cash out due to the limited items + my limited use of the app.
The app is fairly easy to use. I’ve been disappointed with many of the offers though. Not a great number of deals available and not many new offers come available. I’ve had the app a month and not many of the offers have changed. Also, not a lot of products I’m all that interested in. I also had an issue with a claim. There was an issue with the barcode on the product I bought so the product didn’t show up appropriately on the receipt. It showed up as “merchandise” as the cashier had to manually enter the product and so the claim did not go through and I did not get the cash back from the deal. There is a review process where I can circle the item on the receipt in case they miss it in their initial review, but of course all I could circle was the “merchandise” line and not something that matched the product name. In the review process, I’d enjoy an option where I could explain what happened and take a picture of the product or its barcode. The only reason I bought the product was because after the rebate, it would have been cheaper than a competing product... I just ended up paying more than planned and would have just bought the cheaper competition instead if I knew the claim wouldn’t go through. Just hasn’t been what I had hoped for but tough to complain too much about a free app. Hi DCKJ84, we're so sorry to hear that you're having trouble getting your receipts approved! Please contact our Help Desk at [email protected] and we'll be happy to look into this for you :-)
I read that I just had to scan the receipt and would earn cash back, but instead you have to review all the offers in the app first. Then most of them don't apply to my groceries. Then the gas option was removed, and the surveys as well. It was hard to reach the $20 minimum cash out after all that. It is more a waste of time than an opportunity to save money. The app works well though; no crashes, so good job to the devs.
Sometimes not a lot of offers for me but I sure like when it does. The weekly fruit/veggie offer has been a long time and useful. Update. Haven't used much for maybe 2 years. I couldn't take a picture of the receipt and then got a new phone. I submitted a whole receipt for 5 and I received a denial that info was missing. I sent it back saying the receipt is whole. (Top to bottom cutoffs are seen) I got a response to resubmit the receipt again since I can't find the required info. What?
Offers are not really mainstream, and there are very few offers every week. I had app installed for 4 years and managed just $88 in discounts. Just deleted the app after finally, after over a year, getting the $20 accumulated so that I could cash out. Just too dang hard to get $20 built up. Some other apps send your rebate to PayPal each time you earn it, regardless of amount. That is what this app should do. Mostly I figure they keep peoples money because they never get $20 accumulated
This is by far the least useful coupon app I've used, though it used to be better (I've used this app for several years). There's a fairly high minimum ta cash out and there are almost never any offers for items I actually buy at stores I actually shop at. If you purchase a lot of name brand products at Walmart (or a few other grocery stores that are not in my area), them this may work for you. I will probably be deleting it.
This app takes forever to be able to get enough money to cash out. It has been almost a month since I cashed out and I still have not received my money. Customer service emailed me back and said they are having technical issues. For a MONTH!?! This is unacceptable and one of the worst rebate/ coupons apps Update July 2024- this app is one of the worst rebate apps available. I bought products didn't get credit, contacted customer service still didn't get credit, rebates disappear all the time.
SCAM! I had over $20 in cash back rewards, but decided to not claim until the next $20. Life happened and I stopped using it for a bit. When I returned, my reward balance was $0. I didn't get any notifications or emails saying I would lose my rewards soon. They just took my money. The deals aren't even that good. They are best for bringing overpriced items that you've never tried, within a reasonable price for trying them out. But since they stole my cash back, I now over-paid for that stuff.
Update. I now give it a one star because their customer support is awful. They are not helpful and they take forever to get back to you. I would give it a zero if I could. I will be uninstalling this app once I can cash out. This app has so many items are are "zero remaining" on Thursday, the days the deals are loaded. It's pointless to go in because there hardly anything available. Or what is available is very limited as to what store you can actually buy it at.
Swetha said even if you add an item it may not be there in 15 minutes!! If you have added an item it doesn't guarantee that you'll get credit for it! I added 2 items which were accepted and present on my list. I made the purchase as they showed they were added but then they mysteriously disappeared! The next day they appeared again. I tried uploading my receipt again only to be denied! Are they giving me the credit of $2.75 NO! This app is horrible like it was before! They won't help
update 2025: my balance went away because I hadn't redeemed anything in a year and the min cash out is $20 so it's time to uninstall and move on to better things... So many offers I save, buy the product, go to redeem it and there aren't any redemptions left! This app has gotten worse over time, not better. Used to have ones for fruit and veggies, not anymore. Most of the Offers require no other coupons to be used.
I used to enjoy using Checkout51. Not anymore. They are being really aggressive now in the measures they take to make sure you don't double dip savings on the same product across apps. I'm not talking about when you try to claim an offer with Checkout51 AFTER you've claimed it on another app like ibotta -- I'm talking about even when you activate an offer on ibotta and if it features the same product for a similar offer in Checkout51, Checkout51 will deny you access to that offer by labeling it with a claimed limit stamp -- BEFORE you even buy the product or claim the offer on the other app or any app. How ridiculous is that?! In response to your inquiry they will claim it's all manufacturer's decision blah blah. Yes blame it all on the manufacturers. I find that hardly convincing. Another recent change for the bad Checkout51 has adopted is locking up the 25cents fresh produce offers. You'll have to meet a certain saving $ threshold to unlock those offers for the NEXT week. In the past when I rarely found anything interesting on their long rebate offer list, the only reason I kept the app was that at least I could still save a couple of dimes on bananas or lettuce etc no matter where I bought them. With this any brand produce offer going away on top of the new intrusive restrictions on savings I will most likely be deleting this app very soon. Hi frcust, we're sorry to hear you haven't had a great experience! We'd be glad to explain more or answer any further questions, just send us an email at [email protected]
This app was wonderful when I first started using it . Who doesn’t love some cash back on product you’ve purchased . But recently, I’ve bought products and then when I tried to redeem my offer , it said it was out of stock or there’s 0 remaining . When I add my offers from ibotta it also says that 0 are remaining , so I have to switch over and use ibotta . I recently tried to cash out for $184 , and when trying to cash out they suspended my account . If they had already honored my receipts and put the cash back into the “account” , how are they able to not pay me. When contacting them, since I find it pretty unfair that they suspended my account AFTER trying to cash it. I got an around the bush answer with you violated the terms and agreement . Asked them once more which term did I “violated” and got “by signing the terms and agreement , we are able to suspend your account due to the fact we’re not sure if you purchased the items. My friend also had the same issue when she tried to cash out for $346 for their trip her fiancé and her were taking. She has Yet gotten an email back from them . I’ve cashed out before (less than $50) and never had an issue . I wouldn’t recommend waiting cashing out for a large amount because it seems like they just want to suspend your account for trying to cash out any large amount of money .
Attempted to upload a valid receipt that clearly showed the date, time, and items purchased. It's a longer receipt so tried 2 separate images as well as the whole receipt with no edges of of frame... Still rejected for only part of the receipt was shown. Overall, just a big waste of time for the limited rebate options on the app.
They don't approve offers even if you meet the criteria. For instance I bought an item at the specific store that was listed and they denied the claim TWICE because it wasn't purchased at the correct store. Even though the correct store name was at the top of the receipt in plain view. I resubmitted ANOTHER review and it's been over a week with no response. This app is the worst of the rebate apps. They try to deny every claim you have to really stay on top of it or you will never get credited.
It took me about 4 years to reach the 20 dollars to cash out. It barely has any offers at all and it seems like they are always the same ones. I have made a lot more money on other receipt scanning apps like fetch, receipt pal and Ibotta. This app would be great if they would add more offers like Ibotta. The way it is now, I might find one offer every 6 months for 50 cents. Overall, it's a complete waste of time.
