Love this app, really the best and possibly still only one available for what it does. Having said that, I wish save states carried over between updates. I'm sure there has to be a way to do this, because no other emulators I've used have this issue. I primarily use this for tactics games while I have a few minutes of downtime on commute or things like that, so it sucks to have a day off, try to pick it back up mid map, only to have my progress lost.
Outstanding! It's amazing the progress that has been made on dolphin just in the past few months. Many thanks to the devs for a superb emulator. On a snapdragon 845 chipset, there are a lot of gamecube titles that run at full speed. On the Wii side, I'm also starting to see full speed on some of those titles as well. Keep up the great work!
This app is really good! I only have one issue! It saves the game save files to the system files that aren't easily accessible. This is a real inconvenience for swapping save files from PC to phone. Is there a way to change the path that the app stores and reads the save files from? I have not been able to find one on android. Edit: Thank you to the dev team for reaching out. They provided me with a workaround promptly!
Love both the app and the PC version, have been blown away by the development progress on both for years. Only complaint/request is there's no way to map analog trigger controls. Obviously most controllers for phones wouldn't support it and it wouldn't work well with touchscreen, but having a "50% trigger press" button to map or something would be amazing for games like Mario Sunshine, there's no way to run and shoot water at the same time in that game as of now. Otherwise, 5 stars
Works extremely well on my Galaxy s20. My only complaint is that I wish you could more easily get rid of the controller overlay on the screen. I'm using a telescoping Bluetooth controller so my s20 feels more like a PSP, and the setup is easy and all, but once I no longer need to see the controller overlay, it becomes a deterrent to the overall experience. If there was something that could be done about that it'd be perfect.
Wish there was a way to manually choose where the memory card is stored. Until then, this app gets 3 stars. I would love to use my memory card files from my desktop emulator, but nope. Please let us choose the directory for the memory card. With something like OneDrive or DropBox, this would allow for cloud saves. That would be perfect for Dolphin! Android can be frustrating with allowing apps to access storage on your device, so I get not having it yet. But someday!
I have mixed feelings about the mobile version. PC was flawless, but I've noticed issues with this one. Games seem to run at random fps. I can do a hectic boss fight smooth as butter, than the save menu will lag like crazy. When it works well it's great, when the app doesn't, it's pretty bad. I've been trouble shooting for a smoother experience, but as of now it seems very inconsistent.
After the Android 11 update, there are some things that have hindered the experience. Because of the new storage policy of android 11, the emulator will only save your game data files at one specific location. With this in effect, you are not able to use your original save files or backup your saves in case there is data corruption, however you still can create a new save file saved at that specific location. The thing is that the save data files for your games that are saved at the specific file destination are not accessible at this point. You can use file explorers like ES file explorer or FX file explorer, but ES file explorer's permissions are broken, and with other file explorers, it doesn't allow access to the files with your game data. I'm using the Shield TV, since it's one of the few Android systems that are capable of running games at a playable rate.
