Great app, just one suggestion on your EYE of lens! Google Lens is incredibly helpful and accurate for recognizing text, objects, and translating. However, I’d love to see an option to set or select a default album when accessing camera photos instead of default screenshot album. It would make the experience more organized and efficient, especially for users who frequently use Lens on specific photo collections. Hope the team considers adding this feature in future updates!
Google is one of my favourite search engines out there! One feature that stood out for me is the Google lens, it helps me to search up images instead of searching for the prompt I want unlike other browsers. Something that can be improved for Google Lens is the results that come out, especially for "homework", the images that come doesn't help with the answer. Not an issue with AI overview as it is very accurate and tends to show up at the top of result list.
EDIT: Down to 2 stars because when I receive notifications for Google headlines, and tap on one, they all disappear. I have to go through my notification history to locate these notifications, and even then sometimes it won't route me to the article. Also, using Google voice does not work in the Google app!! I only wish the app worked consistently. Some of the cards don't appear every day. Also, they don't update in a timely manner; I sometimes have yesterday's cards. UPDATE: All fixed!
Very frustrated! My saved items are now listed under an Activity icon. There is not a search option inside my saved items now. I save many recipes and use them weekly. The fastest way to find the one I want is to search inside my collections. Why did this change? This change was not thought through. If I wanted to see my activity, I would go to my settings. Terrible change!! Now I can't find anything quickly inside my saved items!
Annoying Collections update. Now Saved Pages (always frustratingly impossible to sort and file as one might wish) are even harder to access: You can no longer click on a page to open it, but arrive at a page that makes you press a small button named Visit to open the page you clearly already wanted to open. Bad move, Google.
New update started installing without even a play store "installing" notification or anything. I had to wait, tapping on the widget and getting "google is updating" toasts until it finished. And now the top bar doesn't hide correctly sometimes when browsing a webpage. This update not only inconvenienced me when it was installing but is worse than the previous version.
Very frustrated with last upset. Saved pages and favorites used to have a search function to find a specific saved page. Now, "Saved" was changed to "Activity", and the search within the save items is no longer available. Why save anything if you can't find it when you want it!
Would be 5 stars, but you condensed the widget icons when it's displayed as a 1x2 widget, whereas prior to the Android 15 update, the 1x2 widget had plenty of room to be able to tap the text entry area. As of right now, that space is nearly gone and almost impossible to tap on the first time. I have a before and after image I can show someone so they can fix it, if there were a place I could send it so someone can see the issue.
It doesn't work like it used to and gives you the same results no matter how much you tweak the wording on your search. Even the quotes method doesn't work anymore half the time. Plus they keep pushing the AI results for everything. I don't want to add "-ai" to all my searches. Just give an option to opt out without punishing me for not wanting a summary of everything. I miss the old Google from 2015. :(
This is truly a great app. Informal, stories, news, and I can visit apps I can't download, and I love that they're adding AI! However, this breaks down quite a lot. The first time, they thought I was young when I wasn't, and now the excuse is just, 'Something went wrong', and I have to sign in again. It tells me to type in my password, and I do, but it doesn't work. I tried getting a verification code, but it takes 48 hours. Please look into this so I may FaceTime and watch YouTube again.
this rating is for Google Play store, because it won't let you give a rating for that. It's very poor for finding what you want. search for "parkopedia", And you can scroll through over 100 apps before you give up, and it cannot even find the only app that actually has parkopedia in the name. I was able to verify that app does exist, by finding it from a link from their website. If Google's search doesn't even work when you know the exact name of something, that's pathetic.
Since the pixel March feature update typing to search no longer works correctly. When you press the enter key after typing your search query the cursor moves to the next line as if you were typing a new paragraph. Given that there is no dedicated search button other than pressing enter on the keyboard this is a big problem when it happens, and forces you to select some autocomplete option instead of the query typed.
The Search bar widget has been completely unresponsive since the last update. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it, but it is still not working. You can't type your search. cannot select Google or Google Lens. and there is a weird black edge now around it. I have never had an issue before, and I prefer to use Google, but when the search bar isn't working it's pointless to use.
stop putting extra tabs on my browser. I already have 3 available and don't want to see an extra page with nothing on it. Also, your notifications are UNWANTED. You forces me to pick 3 topics. Where did the none option go? Same goes for 'screen timeout' on the phones. What makes you think I want to be forced to turn my phone on all the time.
I've had a difficult relationship with Google for some time, but still stuck with it due to its sheer convenience. But recently, too many lines have been crossed, especially as I've learned more. They have forced me to sign in without using SMS text messages, trying to force me to compromise more of my privacy. I have also found that even though, I had disabled the permissions for Google on my phone, they were still accessing stuff they shouldn't have had access to through smaller permissions.
Edit: 5/7/25 Stopped working after last update 😊 -- I liked using it but lately it's lost features. When I search for a restaurant for example, it now only brings me map quest results. Before it would bring me results with options to click on. (i.e. call, overview, review, website, etc) If I search for a song and it finds the correct one, it doesn't give me the option of clicking on it and going to the song. It shows me to go to the artist or album and search for the song all over again 🤦🏻♀️
Circle search functionality is broken. I used to use it for voice search all the time, now it defaults to searching what's on my screen. For example, if I'm on my home screen and I try to do a voice search for any question I have, it will first try to analyze my home screen. They've made it absolutely useless.
"Ask Gemini" has started appearing randomly on my phone even though I didn't install the Gemini app. I can't figure out what triggers it to pop up, and when it does appear, I haven't been able to figure out how to close it. When this happens, I can no longer use the touch screen to get around it, meaning I can no longer access anything on my phone, including dialing 911, if I needed to. I used Google search to find solutions to disable it, but all suggestions were a dead end! Seems to be hidden.
I searched up "12th generation intel" to see when the 12th gen Intel CPUs came out (they came out in 2021), and if I try to delete it, I get an error that says, "Couldn't remove item from history." Why?! My Internet speed is good!!! 😂🤣 I even to the webpage to delete the search term, and no luck. This app is so broken. And, on the saved images page, why would you get rid of the ability to search an image?! It was useful! Now, I have to manually find it myself, which takes a long time!! Fix it!
Since the last update the voice commands for making calls and sending texts in the car have stopped working. Keep getting a message to say I need the latest update to do that but I have the latest update available on my playstore. Really inconvenient as I'm on the road a lot and can't do any calls or texts when I could a week ago.
