Features
The Microsoft Teams mobile app offers a range of features that make it a powerful tool for collaboration and communication. Users can access their teams and channels, participate in chats, and join meetings from their mobile devices. The app also allows for file sharing and integration with other Microsoft Office apps, making it easy to work on documents and presentations on the go. Additionally, users can customize their notifications and settings to stay organized and informed.
Another key feature of the app is the ability to make voice and video calls, as well as share screens with other team members. This makes it easy to have real-time conversations and collaborate effectively, even when working remotely. The app also supports the use of emojis, GIFs, and stickers to add a fun and expressive element to conversations.

Pros & Cons
The Microsoft Teams mobile app offers a range of benefits for users, including the ability to stay connected and collaborate on the go. The app's integration with other Microsoft Office apps makes it easy to work on documents and presentations, and its customizable notifications help users stay organized and informed.
However, some users may find the app's interface to be overwhelming, especially with the range of features and options available. Additionally, the app's reliance on a stable internet connection for voice and video calls may be a drawback for users in areas with poor connectivity.

Huge fan of Teams and everything it offers to assist in real time communication between coworkers. I have caught myself using the IM function as an alternative to sending an email a little more often than I should. I keep every single email I send and receive for recall purposes. If I had one request for improvement it would be to save conservation data longer than the standard 10 days. I would be good with the option to download the data before it is lost - if possible.
Feature rich but the Android app works very poorly. Messages often don't send, editing messages usually doesn't work, notificationa are often missed (even though I have battery optimization disabled), etc. It's a very frustrating experience and I end up using other messaging apps when I really need to get a hold of people. Update: Jan. 2025 It's better now. Upgrade from 2 to 4 stars.
I'm concerned about security with Teams as I'm not allowed control over my own account. I find this a huge security and privacy issue and would never purchase this product. Still a total nightmare to use on multiple devices at once, though. The function of the product itself, though, has gotten a lot better. They continue to improve it and have added functionality.
This app is great EXCEPT that shifts doesn't work. When I'm at work using the desktop version, I can see all my shifts. But heaven forbid I should want to see them on my phone - the only thing that shows up is when people are specifically on leave. I've updated, I've signed out and back in - nothing. When my scheduler posts on a weekend, I don't know what I'm doing until I show up to do it. Not cool, especially since Mondays are my busiest.
For the most part it works, but I have two repeated sources of frustration with the app. 1) Every few months, typically following an update, the shifts tab competely disappears from teams and the only way to get it back is to reinstall the app. It may not sound like much, but it means having to reset all my preferences and alerts. 2) When sending multiple images, it often fails, even with consistently good cell service.
The previous problem with messages not sending appears to be fixed. (Added a star). The other problem is less serious, but still annoying. Whenever I tap to reply to a message, and my phone pulls up the keyboard, it covers up the text box that I'm about to type into. If I hit the back button and then tap the text box again, then it works properly, but this happening many times per day does get annoying. It doesn't happen in any app on my phone except Teams. Galaxy s21.
I have been using this app for the last 2 years and I am greatly satisfied with all the features it provides. However, it has a great disadvantage that always drives me crazy. I use this platform for getting connected with my students who don't know English quite well. Almost all of my students get stuck in the process of logging in, singing up or passing the ridiculous verification system. I have to help each new individual to set it. Other apps like Google Teems, and Zoom are perfect at it.
A lot of graphical issues where my messages that I send appear twice in the chat. Or the chat box is unresponsive. Both require closing the app and opening again to temporarily fix. Seconds later same issue. Less often yet daily, I have messages I send in a group chat not be visible on Moble yet be visible on desktop. Approval app doesn't allow you to open attachments on mobile.
MS keeps adding things that are unneeded and not customizable - like the "discovery" button. I've also noticed using more than one Teams account is not a great experience. You can have a personal Teams account and a Business and the notifications are terrible to deal with. *Update they made it so you can customize a little more on the desktop (like getting rid of 'discovery') so hopefully this will come to the app.
It does some things well, but there's lots of room for improvement. For instance, the multi-account experience is abysmal. In Slack & Discord, I can easily switch between different accounts, all of my accounts are shown in a list on the side, and the notifications from all accounts pass through transparently. In Teams, it's only one account at a time. Also, when I'm in a call, the button to open the chat is buried in an ellipsis menu, when it should be right there on the screen.
Fine, but broken. I migrated to Teams after Skype was shut down, but I have encountered repeated issues. The main problems I have are on mobile. First, when I send my friend Images from mobile they won't send correctly and only display the word "Image" instead. Secondly, when I'm having a conversation on mobile, my friend's messages won't show up in the chat, so I have to exit the chat and refresh the contacts menu to see the most recent message. Very annoying.
Not great - clicking on the files tab on a page within a team, I get totally different results in the phone app than I do on the desktop. I also have no access to files, even to look at, on the phone app as I have to download the file first to view it, which iIt says I don't have permission to do, even when I do have permission on the desktop version. Wish you could choose which teams to have notifications from, or to set up a schedule for notifications so you only had them on working days.
Overall a decent experience, but just like every other app out there, it has massive flaws. Sync issues. Missing calls that I never heard ring. Still getting notifications even through quiet hours. This thing is a mess on the phone. Get your act together MS. Update: Still an issue again over 2 years later. Freezing issues were fixed so bumping up 1 star.
Good for what it's for. I really wish it would have an option to force "available" status to stay active. It's excessive use of the share menu is annoying. It minimizes your options to share with your standard message app because it thinks it needs every shortcut in the books on a menu that it shouldn't be allowed more than one space!!! Microsoft you should seriously reconsider trying to run everyone's entire lives and realize you are only a piece of a larger puzzle, not the main picture!
It is heavy and slow. Issues synchronizing messages with other clients. If you ever, for whatever reason, lose access to your teams account (e.g. graduate from school), you have to delete teams and re-login with other accounts because this app enters an infinite loop being unable to login to the, now blocked, account. Wish I didn't have to use it.
Stupid security bug. App itself is good. From time to time, you will need to re-enter your password for security verification. However, EVERYTIME it shows the error of wrong password, then I enter the same password again, then everything goes fine. Every single time I have to get the error message of wrong password, such stupid thing.
Forced onto Teams when Skype was removed. Theoretically, it should be the same or better, but it's not. Messages regularly don't appear, and people think I'm ignoring them. Sometimes, they show up after I've sent a message again wondering where someone is. I'll stick with it and hope it improves, but it's disappointing and irritating so far.
It was working ok until today. Suddenly I can't send voice notes although it shows that I have but the person never received them and on the Windows version it just shows an empty box with the time I sent it. Also my images are not going through, this also just happened today. The other party just receives the word "image". I have looked at steps to fix the problem on my end, I don't want to uninstall, because I think I might lose all my contacts. It's not easy on this App to find contacts.
I love the concept of this app, and there are lots of things about it that are wonderful. There are a few key issues however that undermine the experience. Mainly, I simply cannot get notifications to work. I suspect the Team's team is getting this feedback a lot because they have a lot of FAQs on how to turn notifications on, but mine are most certainly turned on, and I do not get notifications of new messages. UI clarity around when a message is sent is also poor.
I like having the app on my phone so I can be clued into what's happening at work, even on my breaks, but lately the app has been absolute garbage. I have uninstalled/reinstalled and logged out/logged back in multiple times over the last several weeks because of issues not being able to see coworker's availability status or messages they are sending, not getting calendar reminders etc etc. It seems like every time Microsoft releases an update to Teams they just break it even more! Just stop!
It was Ok before, but after Skype migration, the notifications and connectivity for the x-Skype account is awful: notifications about a message come 2-4 dats later, the calls do not go through. one call got dropped in the middle, while on a stable office WiFi. Downgrading to 1*: Images to a free account with iPhone app do not go through, neither as images nor as attachments.
It took me a while to figure this one out and to say I was extremely frustrated is putting it mildly. But with some persistence I finally got the app to work on my Android 11 phone. So a little helpful information to anyone who's trying to connect by using the Microsoft teams app. Make sure all your permissions are turned on in the settings app otherwise you won't connect. I assumed these were already on but after going there they were all off.
Nothing works. Only way to get a refresh of messages (only purpose for this app to exist) is to kill it and then restart. When someone calls you and you answer with laptop, this annoying thing pops up and asks for a fingerprint the next time you are about to use the phone for something (usually nothing teams related). It's so sad that I have to have this on my phone.
Always had problems with presence status, push notifications, and server connectivity across three separate Android devices. A recent update however has rendered the app unusable. Failure to connect, needing constant cache clearing (which only works half the time), and repeated server disconnects that would only be resolved by reinstalling the app. Now that doesn't even work anymore. After several years to get things right, Microsoft has made it crystal clear they simply do not care.
If there ever was an app that qualifies as being the worst in its class, the most cumbersome to use, the buggiest, the most unstable, and most overused - ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner. Messages are lost or jumbled - OK, backend issue, sure, but why does it keep changing the conversation I'm on while I'm writing, or why does it freeze all of the time, or why does it not work well with user controls? The list goes on, but this app should not 👎
Typical Microsoft is either too simple or too complex. This app has nothing but the basic. Also lost all chats from Skype. When I tried to recover using their complicated process I only end up with two partial conversions. Another partial one comes up in "search". Pathetic. Don't waste your time with this app if not needed for some reason.
Can't load. Keeps Crashing. The app tries to download all the messages. If you've been using for a while, there'll be a lot of data to download which will cause the app to crash. There needs to be a setting allowing users to only download data from a specific time range which will prevent the enormous amount of data from being downloaded causing it to crash. Currently the app has been rendered useless, taking up space on my phone. Time to delete as it hasn't been able to fulfil its purpose.
I had this app installed. It refused to let me update it, kept saying that there was an error. So, as per google's Microsoft advice; I uninstalled the app and tried reinstalling. Now, it won't even install. And when I installed it from my Galaxy store; it's saying that I don't have an account even though I do. This is the only way I can talk to my best friend. Y'all need to fix your app.
I used to love this app. Always used it in conjunction with my laptop and it was seamless. it afforded me the freedom to move away from my desk but remain in touch with my team. Recently however, my teams on my mobile has been going into "status unknown" and messages don't deliver. Messages are also only coming through hours after they have been sent. The only way to fix this is to uninstall and reinstall but this only works for about 8 hours then the issue resumes. Very unimpressed
I wound not expect this low level of quality from a computer science dropout, let alone a multi trillion dollar company. This app only needs to do one thing and one thing only, transfer messages, and it does not do that. In a conversation between me and 2 other people, we lose maybe 10% of all messages, and constantly have sync issues between mobile app and desktop app. It's a complete coin toss if sent images ever load.
Worst thing you can do is install a Microsoft product. They are trying to be apple so bad they copy their worst ideas and put their spin on them. Why can you add a picture from a folder when pressing the shutter button when the image in view is the picture I wanted to attach and send? Who knows. When ms purchases another program this won't get fixed and it'll be retired like the rest... Just let down after let down. And their privacy stance is horrid.
It never ceases to amaze me how teams manages to create new problems that have never been seen before. When on a call it just randomly cycles between Bluetooth, speaker, and phone endlessly until you turn off Bluetooth. Can't use arrow keys when a keyboard is attached (tablets) Doesn't load chats unless the app is closed and re-opened. App shows me as idle even though I'm interacting with people.
Trash. Messages do not send, fail to recieve notications, and confusing to send pictures. Don't rely on this app for Teams, it will fail you. I work in IT and heavily rely on Teams to communicate, however the Android Teams app is just straight trash to put it nicely. I've gone through 3 top of the line phones, and Teams is garbage on all of them. That tells you it's the application, not the phones. Microsoft, make a purely communications app. No collaboration gimmicks, get your basics first.
I've been trying for the past 6 hours to switch accounts from my personal teams account to a guest organisation account and keep getting this message: "Message: AADSTS90023: An error occurred while processing incoming message." I've tried all the tips online and even checked the Microsoft teams bug forum yet still nothing works. It's really frustrating. Can I get this fixed or am understanding of what the issue is?
Horrid. I can't even get into the app. It sends a code to my email, I go get the code and come back to the app, and it's already reset to the point where it wants to send me another code. The two instances this didn't happen, and I thought I would actually be able to log in on my mobile device it put me back to start and sent me another code to try and log in with. I thought a company like Microsoft out of all of them wouldn't have an app that provides this poor of an experience.
Downgrade from Skype which itself got progressively worse after Microsoft bought it out. Constantly missing messages that either show up only on desktop, or only show up on mobile. Can't forward messages to people in a way that shows who sent the original message. Even worse when trying to forward an entire conversation. Also can't customize colors like you could on Skype.
I am not a fan. I have lost days of conversations. There's a lag time for contacts to see or receive "INSTANT" HAHA messages. I have had to uninstall and reinstall several times and this time it won't let me login. I have gone to my Microsoft account and everything is correct. It's telling me, "Sorry, but we are having trouble signing you in. please try again later" I have been trying for 4 hours.
I would like to get a notification when a message is received, open the app, see the message, open it, and reply to it without it being a major life event. I usually get late notifications (or none at all) and then can't open the message because the messages don't refresh without me closing the app, sometimes several times before it will appear. The simplest of tasks should work for a major app. I'd avoid using it at all costs if I wasn't forced to for work.
I can't get into the meeting I need to be in. I entered the meeting id number and the password, but they say they don't see me at all to let me in. I've tried everything I can find online but the app will not work for me. Now I'm excluded from the group because they switched from Zoom, which always worked with no issues, to this garbage app.
Fix the audio problems. They've been well known for years. Bluetooth doesn't work so the app is largely unusable and redundant with five other ms products. Update: now there's a several minute delay between when the desktop version gets messages and the phone version but the new unneeded obfuscating features keep coming
no content ever loads on my Android. I've tried to clear Teams' cache (then eventually all its data), refresh pages, & reinstall the app, but nothing has ever changed. most of the time, I still can't see any posts, send any messages — now thinking about it, I can't do anything on the app unless I get lucky one day, & it suddenly starts to function the way it should for a limited time. Teams seems to work fine on my iPad. can't say the same for my Samsung phone, which is really frustrating.
I have to use this app every day for work. It used to work totally fine with no issues. After a couple of updates, it now makes me type in my password SIX times and have my email approved 3 times by DUO every time I open the app. It is incredibly frustrating, and I wish I could stop using it, but unfortunately, I have to for work and can not always use the web version on a computer.
When the app works, it's ok. What is consist is when opening the app, it opens up and stalls. It does not show the available Teams threads nor the new messages that I received notifications for. I have to close the app and reopen for the Teams threads to appear. Sometimes I have to repeat this twice. And this is each time I open the Teams app. Teams is a very frustrating app to use.
Like everything microsoft, this app is over engineered and barely functional. It just needs to be a phone, but has so many features that doesn't work and you'll never use. The worst part is I have all my work calls transfered to my cell. I never get calls, only missed call notifications. What good is a phone app that doesn't ring, NONE. Thanks Microsoft. Way to make using a phone complicated. Youve failed at digitizing technology thats been around since the 1800s.
