I've had the 6 station control since it was introduced in 2016, and until now, it's been flawless. I recommend it highly to my friends and family and they've been very pleased as well. UNTIL now, the app has been updated over the winter, and now you can nolonger manually water. (for testing) I've tried it on 3 different systems with 3 different phones, and it does not work. if you start a scheduled program, there is no way to stop it mid stream other than to switch the controller off.

This has been the best investment for our garden. Being able to water the vegetables from wherever we are has unchained us from required maintenance chores. I am not tech savvy and have had trouble setting up scheduled watering in the past. This season I used only the "manually" water feature and the garden and I loved it I highly recommend the system.

Worked great until last Android update. Now, I no longer receive push notifications. I rebooted the system and reinstalled the app to no avail. All settings are correct and push notifications are set to ON. If the app is open, I can receive a notification if I do a manual watering. But with the app closed, no push notifications are coming through.

I love having this and being able to turn a zone on right in front of mw without running back and forth to the controller. I've had this for 1.5yrs and am pleased. Only disappointment is that you used to be able to have many more characters for zone names, now it's limited to 20. bring back more characters please!!!! I have many zones and need longer descriptors.

The new unit works great. Easy to setup and maintain. Love how it delays watering due to the weather. I don't like to see people watering their yards when it rains, just a waste. One thing that I don't like and wish I could control is when Smart Watering is scheduled the same day/time of my programs. I have a well and can't afford to water 2 zones at the same time. Some kind of smarts needs to be added to prevent this from happening.

6-20-25 Update from 1 star review. I said app was pretty much useless except for being able to set times and manually start and stop. Was not receiving notifications of start/stop. NOW I am getting the notifications of start and stop. My only complaint now is that I spread my summer seed and went away for the weekend whewheI didnt have service and don't think my grass got watered. App showed 100% battery when it was actually dead. 5 stars if we can get a battery notification.

The physical controller works great! The App, well that's a different story. I am unable to water zones manually from the app and when I try to create a manual watering program, it won't actually save. The save wheel just keeps spinning and says "Saving Changes." It sticks in that "do loop" and never finishes the save. I can set manual watering at the controller so the app is clearly the problem child here.

Haven't used it yet, but easy connections and mounting. Reasonable Bluetooth connection. However, the firmware update ran long, I'm not sure it's done yet. Also, manual watering is not possible to set up as a 0 manual option; it can only be set up for watering at specific times. There's no simple Run Now button. Also, I see no way to easily manually run one circuit during maintenance; you have to navigate to it. At least it should save me running from the spray head to the controller.

Crash issue after .42 version seems to have stopped. However, this recent update "water manually" feels like a step back. I think it would be helpful to have a quick launch, "play" button with time for water manually. A home widget for a specific zone would help, if its possible. I personally use manual to quickly test a zone or scare animal in a flower bed. Thanks

Your latest update makes it hard to see the stations on the app when watering manually. Plus, it no longer waters in the order I select to manually water. It now always starts with Station #1. It does not matter if I select #8, then #4, then #7, in that order. It's going to start with #1 and count up. Last year, I never had this problem. I love this app. But HATE the new update!

the "smart" watering is a joke. we live in an area that gets tons of sun & is quite dry in the summer...yet you'd never know it based off the weather displayed in-app (always "rainy"). it lets you select a weather station nearby, yet I cannot find ANY weather report remotely close to what the app forecasts & keeps delaying sprinklers for. If I did not scale the weather delay function way back to nearly being off, the lawn would be crispy & my new trees on drip would be toast.

It has constant connectivity issues. Sometimes you can fix them by resetting other times it does nothing and there isn't anything customer service can do to get the unit to connect. If you want to track water usage using the water history and properly use the smart watering feature it's only going to work part of the time because it's not going to log watering in all the places it needs to so it'll water too often. As just a way to run the sprinklers on programs, it works fine.

It won't hold a Bluetooth connection. if you're trying to do any sort of manual watering you have to reconnect every time you want to turn the water on or off. The reconnection takes about a minute every time. There is zero online help without your model number. to get the model number you have to go outside and open the actual device. model number is not displayed anywhere in the app. Notifications do not work. The app and support for this product are both awful. enough said for now.

I have used the beehive app and systems for years and have loved it. A recent update took the functionality of being able to manually water in the order you prefer away. I called the company and they said they sacrificed the functionality for better looks. When applying pesticides isecticides and fertilizers, you need to be able to water in the product in the order you apply it in not the order of the number on the timer. For me this was a bad choice and a deal breaker. 5 Star review now gone.

The timer itself seems to work okay but my experience with the app has been negative. The device loses bluetooth connection with my phone once I go inside. This is probably why the company designed an addtional piece of equipment, called the Hub, to boost connection. you can purchase this for $30. It's the typical business model of today. Design a product with limited capabilities then up-charge for add ons. Man, consumers are stupid. Uninstalled app.

the connectivity on this is awful. Set up everything connected right away. app loaded and went to test the system and no connection. reset everything multiple times and it finally connects again. but won't water anything because we don't have any zones. app crashes when you try to add a zone. I would have been better off training a squirrel to water everything.

App simply does not work. Programs are set up to run every 3rd day. But when it's time to run, the app simply skips that interval and displays when it will run again... three days from now. So I have to water manually... every time. Even then, the display used to show status, but not anymore. Smart watering is off, no sensors are used, and it's set to ignore the weather forecast.

I don't usually rate apps. For such a brand name, you'd expect the app to be good, but it's horrible. The layout is unintuitive. Everything takes forever. Half the time it crashes when I open it the first time. It always takes forever to open. Switching between devices is slow. Why do I even have to switch between devices? Really really bad UI/UX design.

Not impressed. Expected more from Orbit. The timer wasn't assembled properly with the transformer not seated all the way in box. Couldn't close the display. Had to seat it properly. Then the model name on the quick start guide doesn't match the name in the app. Went off name in app which meant I couldn't connect phone. Spent more than an hour with support when I finally figured out the issue. Picked a choice where the picture of product looked right, not the name.

I've had nothing but problems with this device for the last few months. I have two xr 8 zone timers, which both lost connection to the network recently. after trying over and over again I finally got them reconnected which only failed 2 weeks later. I can connect to Bluetooth every time. I have to do a power Cycle to get him to wake back up. what's interesting is one of them is flashing an error code saying it can't connect to the network yet the app says it's connected to the network.
