I like how smoothly I can access the different features I normally use on my desktop. I can get to my inbox, discussions, assignment pages, and grades easily and the text, pictures, and videos are all there and clear. I do wish the designers would add a few things, though. On the desktop, I can access an edit and delete button in the discussion threads. Those aren’t on the mobile app, unfortunately, so I have to log in on my laptop or desktop if I want to edit anything I’ve already submitted. I wish the edit and delete buttons were on the mobile app. I also can copy and paste on the desktop without the font formatting changing. If I do that on the app, I notice colors and sizes change and spaces can disappear between paragraphs. I do wish there was a way to copy and paste without that formatting changing. I also wish there was a way to delete submissions from my files page. That’s not on the mobile app or the desktop version. Aside from that, I really like this app. Homework would be delayed without it. With this, I can access my school stuff anywhere I have a wifi signal.

I love the app, helps me find assignments quick has a tab for me to check my grades and to check if the teacher put any announcements if their is a substitute. This app has helped me better my education and when I graduate hopefully help me through college. The app has many benefits and not gonna lie almost a better platform than Google Classroom, it was great to keep in touch with my classmates but not to keep organized. Google Classroom just listed assignments by date not category, with Canvas it has modules when the teacher say what unit subject we are on it help my whole class find the assignment in less than a second. I approve this app and suggest that all schools use it, and for those who has a kid with a personal computer for their homework I suggest you sign your kid up you will see a great improvement in their grades if they struggle and helps with the syllabus if the parent has the app so they can check their child’s grades and they can help the child through the course and help study. I am rating this app as a freshman in high school and I promise it makes such a great learning experience and makes school a lot easier. I rate this app a million out of ten.

This app is absolutely amazing. It works so smoothly. I have this all installed in my phone for almost a month. I have never faced any issues or troubles with this app. It doesn't take much time to boot up. Every feature works without any issue and I did not come across any hindrance so far. This app is absolutely amazing.

This app is seamless on phones which is an amazing feature, the schedule on it is almost perfect (if a teacher does t use the schedule properly then it isn't but that's on the teacher not this app). The reminders are great features, you can adjust it as needed. Only thing I'd love for it to have is if you could add the due date to an external calendar 📅 like Google, outlook, etc. If I could do that I would then be able to make a calendar specifically for school work. Awesome app

This is my second semester using this app I truly like the student app. Last semester I missed a few corresponds from the instructor and a couple of assignments cost me a lesser grade because I didn't respond in time. I now use the notification feature as a reminder. Also, it's great if you're not on Wi-Fi , you can submit your assignments right from your cellular device.

Edit: Would it be possible to only receive notifications for replies to my own discussion post and not all discussion posts? I like the app in general. It sure is handy. I don’t like that the To Do tab only shows a limited amount of tasks and that you can add or view To Do tasks that were added by oneself. You can view the To Dos you added using the desktop website in the Calendar tab in iPad and iPhone, but you cannot add, edit or delete them. I really wish the To Do tab was more useful in the iPad and iPhone apps. Another thing I noticed is that when a particular course imports quizzes from an external application like Cengage Mindtap, it does not mark the assignment as completed in the To Do list. It has to be checked off manually. I wish the To Do list (or List View in the Dashboard tab on desktop) were enhanced as having a comprehensive and editable list of To Do’s is very useful for students to track their assignments. I also noticed that the Inbox feature in the mobile app versions lack a couple capabilities that at least exist in the desktop version. For example, members of a group message can view who is in the message thread while on desktop. But in the mobile apps, you would only see the addressees by clicking reply all.

I've been using this app for a little over a year now for college. It's very well made with only a couple things I have a problem with. First, it would be nice if there was some sort of offline version for those of us in the mountains with awful Internet connection. When I'm in the middle of doing an assignment and the internet shuts off, it literally goes white, the whole screen does and doesn't have an auto save for the work I just typed up. The second is all my assignments don't always show

I can no longer access my courses announcements from notifications. Every time I tried, it gave me an "Error occurred, the topic may no longer be available." Even though if I access the announcement from the courses individual menu, I can view the announcement. Therefore, the error is not 0 as it is indeed available, just not accessible from notification menu anymore for some reason.

App is really good and laid out well for a mobile interface. There are some problems as I can't manage my notifications and as well it's really annoying how if I view notifications on my desktop it doesn't clear it for my mobile and theres not a mark as all read button and its annoying as I think I missed announcements when I've already read them

Generally a pretty good user experience! It's definitely very handy to have, though it's mostly for checking on classes rather than doing assignments. However, it's been a little inconsistent for me lately. sometimes it loads really slow, even after restart and with good internet. Some notifications show up and some don't without any rhyme or reason. Other than that, great app

I have been using Canvas for about a year now and it's been very helpful! Although the initial switch from Google Classroom to Canvas in my school district was hard, I have now gotten used to the apps interface and how it works. I like how organized everything is in the app, I can see all my classes laid out when I open it. If I click on one of my classes, I can easily open modules to find my assignments. I can also keep track of my assignments with the todos tab and inbox which shows messages from my teachers. Turning items in is also an easy process (depending on which format). You can turn in with audio, website URL, media recording, file upload, or text submission (depending on what the teacher chooses as submission process). Another great aspect is that all of your assignments are sorted by unit in the modules making it very easy to find your needed assignments. Overall Canvas is a good app, I only gave it 4 stars because on several occasions my teachers have made the app more difficult by allowing only a certain type of submission/ locking material by mistake, etc. I do have one recommendation, and that is when you film an in app video submission, there should be a pause button, I have experienced times when I was not able to pause and I wanted to.

Overall, this app works great! I'm not sure if this is a bug, but can you guys please fix the loading speed into the app. When I open the app, it's stuck on a blank grey screen with the hub at the bottom. Even with wifi download speeds at 700+ mbps. It's very annoying.

There are a lot of issues with this app like the notifications are SO off and even during winter or whatever break I'm STILL getting school notifs like emails that were from a month ago and gradings and other notifs that also was from months ago. They're rarely up to date unless I open the notifs through my school computer then the notifs will get sent through my other devices. Another thing is sometimes my emails and submissions wont go through even though it did, but that was only a few times.

Like everyone has said, this really is a well thought out app. The UI experience is nicely done and easy to navigate. The only reason I am giving this 3 stars is, nobody I know who uses the app has been able to get the notifications to work correctly, including myself. I have missed assignments, which is my own fault, but I keep trying over and over and over to get the push notifications to work correctly through app or email to no avail. THAT would make this app everything we could ever need.

I like the app, but there are a few bugs and inconveniences that could be improved. The biggest one for me is the broken widgets. They never display anything even though the app shows grades, to-dos, etc. Id love the convenience of those widgets if they were working. The other big issue is the push notifications settings. I only see a white screen with an error message. The email notifications work properly, but I prefer push to email.

This app is definitely NOT perfect. It needs a lot of fixes and even more quality of life features. The in-app videos have delay between actions like pausing. The videos are also not seamless, with the screen zoomed into half the screen. Anyone rating this past 3 is either too old to know quality or a plant by the Devs. This app probably racks in millions of dollars to run like my fat uncle sally.... I'll give you a hint. He is in a wheelchair.

So I’ve been using canvas for quite a while end of like sometimes like whenever I go to email a teacher or like something like that it really just randomly crash like and Sundays like you act like it’s like the Wi-Fi like so slow or something I don’t know what it is but whenever I like going to it just loads for like 10 minutes straight and crashes it’s like the most annoying thing in the world and even more than that whenever I click on one of my teachers names or a class and it has like some sort of weird grade or something that it doesn’t like or like I don’t know teacher say that like it sometimes they calculate the grade for them or like it will have a calculation grid glitch that will have repeating decimals and whenever I click on it it just crashes the app and to the point where I have to restart my iPad five times for getting my new net work a bunch of times going back in and trying to see if it loads after waiting 10 minutes to see a crash, oh and it also automatically allows itself to go to your calendar and make several events that are in your calendar already in the app so like now I have a bunch of calendar events that just say oh you’re Odysseus or odyssey assignment is due and it’s like in my calendar so they just gang access do you like your personal apps without even asking

App keeps telling me that I have a new annotation from my professor, but there are no new annotations to speak of. I've been getting these notifications for hours with no resolution other than disabling notifications for the app. When I go into the app to look at the current annotations, it allows me to look at one or two of them and then crashes. Sometimes it doesn't display the notifications at all before crashing.

Edit: this is still going on for me. I am forever locked out of this app I guess. This problem has been going on since 2020 based on the instructor help page. You change your password the app logs you out and will NOT recognize the new password you changed on a laptop. If you click forgot password it takes you to a page where you do that "I'm not a robot" test and then.... freezes. A problem that's been had for 4 years that hasn't been fixed? Ridiculous.

I've used Canvas for years. The website is great, the app is borderline useless. The UI is unusable and it's impossible to access anything without receiving the infinite loading screen of death. I use the app purely for push notifications, which only goes so far. An instructor posted an announcement? Cool. I can't read it. Gotta get the laptop.

Horrible, I have 2 children and their classes are merged together, they don't have their own profile and they go to different schools. The app doesn't give an overall grade for one student but did the other. The overall grades are not correct half the time either and it doesn't support pictures in the messages, it just gives a code. One of the worst apps I've ever dealt with.

It's the worst app ever. They make everything a confusing battle, and then you can’t even access the help guidelines. Even the school has to provide visual instructions on how to sign up and use it, but half can’t even figure it out themselves. I get bombarded with useless emails every day but can't even fix the notifications without 20 different windows and errors or logins that can't fix it. What a useless time suck.

I have an android phone. The app is so difficult to stay logged into while using it. Just rotating my screen causes the app to log me out of my school's platform. The navigation is not user friendly and very finicky. The back arrow at the top of the screen seems like it is for navigating the pages, but it always takes me back to the login page. I get extremely frustrated each time I use this app. I do not recommend using.

The mobile app submitted 4 assignments on its own while I was working on an assessment. They all indicate the same time of submission. And apparently first and second attempts at the exact same time. Clearly an IT issue. I Never opened these assignments nor started them. Now, I have no more access to them, because Canvas already took away my chances at access. This is ridiculous. This isn't the first time this has happened to me. It's happened to me on one of my very first assessments.

Unable to enter in the code, I close the app to do so after entering my student email, and password then I for some reason see the find my school page all over again and back to the same result? What the heck is that bug about? Not okay. Uninstalled for the final time. How in the absolute heck are people supposed to enter in the code when the app crashes when going to put it in? This is unacceptable.

My child was having problem with jpg loading on his school pages. At first, the jpg pictures were just more for the improvement of the site aesthetic so we didn’t bother. Then one day there is an image on his quiz that he was suppose to analyze and answer. He CAN’T see the image. The image won’t download. It was a timed quiz and he wasn’t able to get the teacher to email him the image on such a short notice. I reported the problem to Canvas and then started googling the issues online. It turned out that this is a known issue for YEARS. I am in disbelief that this has not/cannot be fixed. Safari is not a no name niche browser. It shocks me that Canvas, also not a no name small educational platform, has no solution to this. After several days, I got a respond from Canvas, actually the online school IT, to say just use Chrome. Really?!?! We use Safari because of Screentime parental control. I DON’T want to use Chrome. I didn’t use Chrome on the my computer (without any monitoring filter) and the jpg still didn’t load in all instances. Canvas, get it together and work out the issue with Safari! We used Schoology all last year and had ZERO issues. This is totally unacceptable for such a popular platform. As a user, there is no customer support to speak of. No way to contact them except to fill out a form. I wouldn’t use this platform if I am the school admin making a decision on what technology to use.
