Features
The Craftsy mobile app offers a range of features designed to enhance the user experience. Users can access a wide variety of online classes, tutorials, and patterns across various creative disciplines. The app also allows users to download content for offline viewing, making it convenient for on-the-go learning. Additionally, the app provides a community platform where users can interact with instructors and fellow crafters, sharing ideas and inspiration.
Another key feature of the Craftsy mobile app is the ability to organize and track progress on projects through the "My Projects" feature. This allows users to easily access their saved patterns and class materials, as well as keep track of their ongoing creative endeavors.
How to Use
To start using the Craftsy mobile app, simply download it from the app store and create an account. Once logged in, users can browse the extensive library of classes and tutorials, selecting their desired content to watch or download. The app also provides a search function to help users find specific classes or patterns.
Once content is selected, users can watch or download it for offline viewing. The app also offers a user-friendly interface for organizing and tracking progress on projects, as well as a community platform for interacting with instructors and other users.
Pros & Cons
Pros of the Craftsy mobile app include the extensive range of classes and tutorials available across different creative disciplines. The ability to download content for offline viewing is also a major advantage, as it allows for convenient on-the-go learning. Additionally, the community platform provides a space for users to connect and share ideas.
On the other hand, a potential drawback of the app is that some features may require a subscription or purchase, which could be a limitation for some users. Additionally, while the app offers a wide range of content, some users may find the selection in their specific area of interest to be limited.

You can find instructional lessons for nearly any kind of creative outlet from cake decorating to knitting to watercolor... SO many awesome episodes and recipes! Some downfalls though: I can't always find the printable materials, even with my membership there are additional purchase only classes, and I've lost classes I wanted to go back to find later and haven't been able to find. All in all, I love Craftsy and recommend it, it's not perfect but its good! t's like Netflix for creativity!
The developers really need to fix the bug on the app that says you still have to pay for classes even if you are a member. If I hadn't signed in on the computer first, I would have thought that I was scammed too. Also, the categories aren't very helpful because you get embroidery and jewelry beading under the same heading.
I have a Premium member account with Craftsy, and I love the content. However, the app is disappointing. Some classes that I can find on the website can't be found on the app. In addition, there are mismatches between categories and subcategories and between subcategories and videos. E.g., there is a "Weaving" subcategory under "Knitting", even though weaving already has its own category, and all the videos listed under weaving are about yarn dyeing. Overall, a frustrating experience.
I love the teachers. But, app's never been as good as it used to be before they relaunched it. If you start watching a course, it jumps to a completely different random program between chapters of your course. If you want to resume a video series when you sign in, it will only show you recent chapters you watched with no way of going back to the course through those chapters. Have to go find the whole course again f/scratch.Hope you remember the exact name! Can't access paid item on app either.
Streaming is buggy and stops once in a while. There is no shared favorites or history between browsers and tablet. Which means you have to manually duplicate anything you do on one platform to the other. Imagine if your phone didn't have the same Netflix history as your computer browser. This is a pretty big flaw for which Craftsy doesn't seem to be concerned about. Edit : I see these issues have been happening for well over a year and they haven't been addressed.
Lovely craft site that is deceptive. They give you a cheap starting price. I paid $1.00. then they auto-renew for $113 with no warning and nothing on their app telling you how to stop it. I finally found a number buried in some small print. When I called them, they offered to renew at $9.00! Just make the auto-renewal $9.00. Such a scam. Thankfully my bank marked it as potentially fraud and notified me. Do better people. If it's a good site, it would be easy to cancel.
I signed up for a premium subscription with a one year special, but have been unable access any premium content on the app. I am also unable to make the video full screen on the website, so the only way to watch is a thumbnail size video. I tried all the troubleshooting tips that customer service gave me with no change. When I called. They said they were going to have to log into my account and let them troubleshoot it from them logging into the app. I do not feel comfortable with that.
Very buggy. My account doesn't show up as gold in app. I'm using the same login, cut and pasted from the online login, but it just shows as an unpaid membership in the app. I can save my favorites in the app, but since it doesnt show my paid membership, i cant watch them. I can watch them online but since it cant access favorites online, i cant watch my favorites still! Also, you can't access most account details and settings without going to the website. The app feels unfinished
Another deceived customer! :( BEWARE If you are a crafter and like which topics they show you BEFORE YOU pay anything, SET Calendar Reminders to Cancel in Time!!! Not worth the annual charge! Craftsy shows a variety of quality training, but for the very basics. When you look in account info for the terms of the promotional trial, there are no details! Months before what I thought was the deadline I was surprised with an $188 charge. Now starts the fight to get that charge returned. Beware!
I absolutely hate when companies ask for your CC info to start a free trial after a certain amount of time. The month to month ones where it's less than $15 isn't that big of a deal but this BS is for 2 years and is $100... That is insane!!! They barely have anything on here for $100, I've had this app on my phone for over a year and never have I once found anything useful on the handful of times that I've perused it for over 20 minutes. I get too bored w/ the app when I could be on PinterestECT
I couldn't understand how the site worked after watching a video for a food item. As in, where is the recipe found, etc. I couldn't find any FAQs or help section. I noticed that there wasn't a lot that would appeal to me, so I was looking for any reason to stay a member after just joining. I read further where you could ask questions, but it didn't seem like they were answered & and every was demanding their subscription be canceled or you charged something I didn't Auth. One called them a scam!
Got a free subscription for a year from TMobile. A week later I didn't realize I got charged $122 on my credit card. When I realized it, I was told by Craftsy support by email, that there is no way they can refund me, they don't have my payment information. I'd have to contact Play Store. Play Store told me they couldn't refund me, cause of their new refund policies. Basically stole $122 from me. I don't even use the app. 😡 Believe the bad reviews. Videos on this app, you can find on YouTube.
Honesty goes a long way ya know & I'm not happy that I paid 3$ for a membership, only to find it's kind of pointless, seeing I have to buy each class inside for FULL price anyway. It's not a lot of money to most but to some people it can be! I'm disabled and struggle. Every ¢ counts while trying to find ways to learn basics while figuring out which craft I want to fully invest in and pursue full-time. But yes.. As soon as a company does a payment gimmick AKA trick, I lose a lot of trust in them.
Disappointing. I was really excited for this app. But there are a few problems: it won't keep you logged in, so you have to log in manually every time. Just obnoxious. It's not like it's a banking app! Also, I downloaded several classes (and my notifications from the app say download completed), but when I go into my downloads on the app, nothing is there. It hasn't saved my progress in the classes I've watched, either. Just a bummer - this could be a really great resource and isn't.
Go through the desktop website - the app is trash. Since 2016 I have bought over 10 courses, mostly drawing and painting and they are well produced and provide clear instruction! But trying to access the courses through the app is impossible. Even after uninstalling and re-installing several times - I got error server messages, the password reset page would freeze, and through the app it looked like I had never bought any courses - they disappeared. Ugh!
I must admit this app is terrible! I have had a Gold membership for a couple of years but not through Google. I purchased the membership through the website and that's what I would recommend. You can turn off the auto renew through them months ahead of time. Other than that they do have quite the barage of classes and instructional material for everything and anything you would like to learn "Craftsy"! That said I've been happy so far except with this app that needs major improvements!
This is a really bad app. The design is not intuitive at all. It's also unclear how you manage your membership or payment options. I got a free subscription for a year through T-Mobile Tuesday and a couple days later they simply canceled my subscription without explanation. Now, if I try to access any of the content, it prompts me to get a membership again. The app just gives sketchy vibes like it was made by some guy on Fiverr. I wouldn't recommend, there is plenty of free content on YouTube.
Thievery! I did the free trial, but then forgot about it untill there's a charge well over 100 Bux on my card. I try to log in to cancel membership and reverse payment but there's nothing there anymore, it was a scam to get my money! The app won't even open and the ONLY page available online is a sign up page with no contract information. Scam! Don't do it!!!
I have received a code to "upgrade" my membership, but when I try to do that, I'm told I can't have more than one membership at a time. "Upgrade" appears to have a different meaning to Craftsy than the dictionary definition of the word. Also, without discounts, their classes are ridiculously expensive. Will be unsubscribing, as soon as I can reach someone in customer support - which isn't available on weekends, WHEN MANY OF THEIR SUBSCRIBERS ARE LIKELY ONLINE!
They make it seem like a great deal initially with a $5.99 membership for the year, but still have to pay $10 for classes and have minimal free videos. Then it's impossible to cancel your subscription through the app, and they will end up charging $123 for a yearly renewal without notifying you to remind you that the subscription is renewing soon. Their customer service is useless and will just offer a $35 yearly membership and will not reimburse you if you reach out. It is a huge scam.
