Features
Google Wallet mobile app offers a range of features to make managing your finances easier. It allows users to securely store credit and debit card information, as well as loyalty cards and gift cards. Users can also send and receive money from friends and family, split bills, and pay for purchases online and in-store using their smartphone. The app also provides the ability to track and manage expenses, set budgeting goals, and receive real-time notifications for transactions.
Google Wallet also offers a feature called Google Wallet Card, which allows users to make purchases at millions of locations where MasterCard is accepted, or withdraw cash from ATMs. The app provides a high level of security, with the option to lock the app with a PIN and the ability to remotely disable the app if your phone is lost or stolen.
How to Use
To use Google Wallet mobile app, first download and install the app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Once installed, open the app and follow the prompts to link your credit and debit cards to your account. You can also add loyalty cards and gift cards to the app for easy access.
When making a purchase, simply open the app, select the card you want to use, and hold your smartphone near the contactless payment terminal. For sending and receiving money, simply enter the amount and the recipient's email address or phone number. You can also use the app to split bills with friends and family by entering the amount and the recipients.
Pros & Cons
Google Wallet mobile app has several advantages, including the ability to securely store credit and debit card information, as well as the convenience of sending and receiving money from friends and family. The app also offers a high level of security, with the option to remotely disable the app if your phone is lost or stolen.
However, some users may find that not all merchants accept Google Wallet as a form of payment, which can be a disadvantage. Additionally, while the app provides a range of features, some users may find it overwhelming or complex to use at first.

Honestly, the app is fantastic. I use it a lot for boarding passes and tickets. It is a wonderful app to hold passes and make that process seamless. The only thing I wish Wallet had was a shortcut integrated for the phone like Samsung Pay. With Samsung Pay, you can swipe up from the bottom of the phone to accessnthay shortcut. It'd be awesome if Samung and Google could figure out that possibility with Wallet.
💸I RECOMMEND Google Wallet! It's a robust way for me to make my in-store, online payments, digital tickets, & various other store transactions in 1 central location. I've never had issues, so you will get security & privacy with Google Wallet. It keeps all your essentials protected. (It will not share your real credit card number, so your payment info stays safe) You can make contactless payments, add any loyalty program cards, & any gift cards. It's a FREE VERY USEFUL android exclusive app!💸
It's good but desperately would love the ability to customise the loyalty card boxes (custom colours and images) like you can do on Samsung's version. I also have a lot of loyalty cards and scrolling to find the one I need is frustrating. We need a search option and the ability to change how they are shown, from the current list to a grid etc.
It seemed amazing. I spent quite a bit of time getting my payment methods correctly in the wallet and then making virtual cards for security purposes. That's a great feature of this app. After all that, I found out that my phone doesn't have the ability to tap pay. So everything I did was a waste of time. I went back to the play store. It said Wallet was compatible with my phone. It would have been nice to know about the tap pay ahead of time rather than after the fact. I'm so disappointed.
I haven't made the move completely from card and cash to using this app, but as concert and train tickets are able to be saved here, I expect my use will increase. It's definitely handy to have, though I do like having a backup in case anything else goes wrong! Shame I can't add things like my library card to it, that's the one I forget the most!
Handy enough app. Able to see any loyalty cards I have and movie tickets. Only problem is some times it acts up when paying. A common message is I've moved the phone too fast when I haven't, so I've to close the app and try again. Other times it'll be fine then up pops "verify it's you" so I've to do that then pay, little annoying. Other times it doesn't do anything, though this may be an issue with the card machine than the app.
The application works quite well sadly the issue I have with the application is security. Within the application you can turn NFC on but not off within the application. How unlikely for a person retrieve information on an unlocked phone is low, there is still a chance it can happen. For instance you finished paying with the Google wallet and you put your phone away, if the phone is accidentally unlocked someone can access your information even though that is complicated. There's still a chance.
I have passes loaded and used to be able to add tickets from Ticketmaster. It wasn't ever seamless. After speaking with a person where the tickets are purchased I was told that he have the biggest problem because it doesn't work well to Google Wallet. I was told to you guys a web browser instead to open up the tickets and save them to the wallet. Hopefully this solves the issue.
This app has gotten better over the years but still lacks a few things, such as simultaneous use of items. For example, if I'm going through airport security, have an ID Pass and a boarding pass, the app doesn't give an easy way to have the ID Pass active while displaying the boarding pass. I could split the screen and bring up the airline app at the same time, but that defeats the point of putting the boarding pass in Google wallet.
Google Wallet is handy for picking up tickets directly from Gmail, and the integration works well. However, beyond that, its utility feels limited. While you can add QR-based tickets, the app lacks broader functionality. A Digilocker integration, for example, would make it much more useful. It’s decent for basic ticket storage but has room for improvement.
Please allow sort by name. Please add share loyalty card. Would be useful in family scenario. Also search button would be useful at the bottom. Add Payment card gets in the way of you cards. There is already Add to Wallet in the bottom right. Have filter like loyalty cards, memberships etc. The GUI could fit more cards in the screen size. Like Stocard and Klarna.
Since the introduction of the Google Wallet in Pakistan, the tap-and-pay feature has become significantly more seamless. Previously, when using the respective banking app, transactions often failed to complete successfully. This advancement is indeed a substantial benefit. However, I propose an additional feature: enabling withdrawals from ATMs using the tap-and-pay functionality of Google Wallet. This would eliminate the need to carry a physical card altogether.
Fine for payment cards - does everything I want and expect. Rubbish for other cards. You can't assign a name to a loyalty card, so you can't manage severally the same type. You can't add a card which isn't already in their list. Until my other loyalty card app was killed off I thought this app was fine, but the loyalty card section is not fit for purpose.
I appreciate that security is important when it comes to my cards. The recent update, however, has made the use of cards very annoying, so much that I'll probably start using my physical cards. 3 out of four times I need to reconfirm with fingerprint, it's slow, inconsistent and often times I end up spending extra 30 seconds to make a small payment. It's far from clear when I need to reconfirm and when not.
The app really went down regarding quality of the service. For months it has been declining my transactions, every single one! Unlocking pin code did not help! I even changed my card completely and it still cannot connect the card. Removed and installed the app, did not work. The app clearly has become absolutely unusable! No point of me downloading it again..!
Not user friendly at all. I can't seem to save anything that is not already wired for wallet. Put a link in Gmail to make it easy to pull in tickets and boarding passes. This is very frustrating to use. No link in Google Photos to bring in screen shots. Here is an example of poor instructions: 3. To turn on data sharing, under General, turn smart features and personalization in other Google products on or off. ????? Really, turn them on or off. Holy smokes this is bad.
Needs to be able to search for specific cards and loyalty cards instead of endless scrolls through tens of or hundreds of passes and cards we have saved. It's Disorganized. Fine with one or two passes, but it's a complete mess otherwise. Seriously make tabs to find cards easier. Let us group cards by retailer. Let us categorize them however we want. The Gpay app was such a better interface!!!
my user experience leaves me very frustrated 98% of the time. I'm considering going back to tapping a physical card. I consistently have to either verify a few times with thumb print, even when I've just used it , or the phone "moved too fast" even when it didn't or it literally does nothing at all, and I'm stood at the checkout, waiting & trying & nothing is happening at all... even when I come out of my wallet & refresh , it still does nothing... it's so intermittent. it's not good enough !!
A year later update: the carousel method to choose a card hasn't been improved at all. It's still much slower than previously to go through cards as you need to wait for the animation to complete each time. If you frequently use different cards (I travel a lot), then it's very frustrating. It used to be so much better with just a simple list of cards on the app. At least the reliability got better.
Firstly, lack of security. Everyone can access my loyalty cards or passes, if the phone is unlocked. Secondly, harder to find required card if its without a logo. Due to a bigger card size(comparing to old version), need more to scroll. Thirdly, there is no possibility to sort cards automatically at least by name. I have added a lot of loyalty cards, and had to spend additional time to sort. Also, it would be useful to have a separate travel passes from loyalty cards.
Works, but works TOO well. sometimes if i have my phone out just a few feet away from a payment thing (like to grab coupons/check my balance), it opens the app automatically, without my permission, and tries to pay. how the hell is that secure? no "confirm payment!" button or anything, just. phone open? payment terminal 1 foot away? PAY PAY PAY PAY PAY. i have to disable NFC just to keep it from accidentally opening (and theres no quick "disable/enable nfc" button). does NOT feel secure.
Completely screwed recently. All my cards from different banks disappeared during a payment. I tried to add them back, choosing cards in my Google Payments profile but, NO, "you have already added this card". Yes, I did. Then you removed it just from the UI and I can't re-add any. Additionally, recent additional verification has added inconvenience. Don't fix what wasn't broken! Back to physical cards for now.
With the introduction of the verify is you function, and I no longer have fingerprint on my phone as had to replace the screen, wallet is a waste of time. I may as well use the physical care and do chip and pin. I get the security perspective, but phones are generally secure, maybe the verify kicks in less often?
Giant bug when a debit card needs to be reverified. There is an error message that says it needs to be reverified with a dismiss button. The problem is this closes the verification / management window for the card. You cannot reverify or remove the card. I have been chatting with a completely useless support rep for an hour about this issue. They keep telling me to do the same things over and over.
The new goggle wallet app has been nothing but problems ever since I had to switch. First off I had subscriptions like YouTube, paramount+,and a couple of others that was set to be paid with a card that had my cell service ATT and my phone # in it. So that my subscriptions was paid with my phone bill. Can't use that anymore. Can't verify any of my cards. And tap to pay doesn't read when I tap to scanner. Pay was 100% better. Google messed this up big time! No good reviews about it on here.
