**edit** the app wasn't working at all. It wouldn't connect to my GoPro and wouldn't allow me to login. I deleted the app and reinstalled it. I reconnected my camera and the app is working again. It's fine because it's the only option for my GoPro. I feel like they could make this more user friendly and put out an update (or at least a push notification telling you to uninstall/reinstall) to fix these issues without the user having to figure it out on their own.
For such a big company app is lacking... One of the annoying things is the editing limits of how long your video is according to the music you choose, with no option to loop the music. It will then delete your edits to make it fit, undoing your work. The only good thing is the automatic videos it creates to give you ideas. It edits from the cloud with no need to download. There are better free mobile editing apps on Android, but you have to download clips to your device taking up memory.
The GoPro Quik App is frustrating. The mobile app struggles with features better suited for a desktop (processing, storage, screen size/aspect ratio, input devices, STORAGE, memory...) I'm annoyed by having to download large video files to my phone for web uploads when they're already on GoPro's servers. The inability to manually connect to my hidden home Wi-Fi is a security issue. Even a browser-based app could be an improvement. GoPro, please get it together—bring back the desktop app!
Terrible app! More often than not it doesn't find the camera. I constantly have to "forget" it from Bluetooth and re-pair it. And I just made the mistake of signing up for the cloud service. What a huge mistake that was! It only uploads when plugged in and connected to Wi-Fi, and that's if/when it even connects. Oh, and the "auto" upload? I have to scan for Wi-Fi networks every time, and when I find the WiFi network that it has already used, I still have to enter the password! How is that auto?
When the app works, then it churns out great videos. Unfortunately for Android users, we aren't able to make edit on a PC although we have been told it's been coming for 2 years and we get charged the same full price as Apple users. I've had several videos that won't export/save and the app doesn't tell you what/if a video is corrupted. The app support team gives generic guidance, but I wish they would enhance the app in order to make it easier to troubleshoot.
uploading videos from the go pro is fine. editing is fine. but when I go to download the video, it gets stuck on preparing the video. I left the phone trying to do it over night and it's was stuck at 72%. I can't even share with a link. I have since restarted the phone cleared the cache, uninstalled reinstalled. now it's preparing video 0% for the last 30 minutes
app is pretty much useless for older generation gopro, barely connects to my old hero3 after turning the camera power and wifi on and off several times, and once you lose the connection you have to start over. not surprised, this company only cares about getting you to buy the newest camera and add-ons, of course they don't care about supporting their old tech.
I upgraded to premium and learned they have a "premium plus" plan now. Don't waste your time and especially your money with this app. It has little to no real value, not any more options than the unpaid, it is really unreliable (as in I can't tell you how many times I've edited a video, hit save, and all my edits were somehow changed or wrong so I had to redo it anyway).
overall I like the app but it doesn't seem to work for me which is now frustrating. I paid for the yearly membership and every time I try to upload the video to my social media there are seconds where it is just black. I go back in to edit the video and I don't see where the blackouts happen until I'm ready to upload it to my social media. The only time it works is when I delete and reinstall the app but I'm not going to do that every time. So far, its just frustrating.
After fighting with the app for an hour trying to figure out why I couldn't get it to connect to my gopro, I uninstalled the app and reinstalled and it finally let me put in the pass code number from the camera and then it let me make a name and password for it. Now, it shows my camera on the app, but it won't let me connect to it. I did everything the error message recommended, and still nothing. You would think that such a big-name camera company would do better with this app. Over it!
Even having the subscription, on some day I lost access to my media library, and can't renew it for a month. The support doesn't work at all. I submitted 5 requests during the last month describing the issue and they just sent a generic message "we check your subscription" and then disappeared. Very disappointing. I didn't expect it from a well known company.
Zero stars. It's mind blowing how terrible this app is. You'd expect that GoPro would make it better over time but after 6 months it's gotten even more horrid. I'm go as far as to call it a scam since it's a paid subscription. Try it for yourself. I dare you since its problems are too extensive to describe in this little box. You'll be extremely disappointed, in fact enraged since you paid for it, spent a lot of time editing, all for it to freeze, crash, or not load videos. my 2nd review btw!
This has got to be the most frustrating app I have ever used. They fix one thing and break another, at the moment you can't save a picture from a video, or to be more precise the picture it saves is from the beginning of the video, not the frame you've selected, both on my session 4 and 5.
In the beginning the app worked great. As time went on (2 months) I had to spend countless hours troubleshooting it because it wouldn't stabilize videos or download edits. It became exhausting. My decision to cancel my premium subscription was because GoPro lied about the features and capabilities. After over a month of waiting for support to address my issues ( and having to explain my issues EVERY SINGLE TIME , apparently their support is incapable of reading) I cancelled my subscription.
000 stars! 1. Media disappears off cloud! Paid for space, but it downloads ALL my media everytime I connect & fills up phone (99% used)! 2. My credit card changed, but I can't access payment methods in the app. NO PHONE # to call. Email replies to "payment didn't process" bounces back "not delivered"! 3. App UNRELIABLE! Hours lost!! It won't play, won't open, nothing! After a year, no better! Will let my subscription expire. No one to help, no plan to fix it. Will look a different editing app!
This app is really annoying. It takes the longest time to download videos, refuses to send half my footage to the app, and it just does not work. not only that, but it also decided to crash during multiple long editing sessions. On top of that, when I click "Record" I want it to record. But no, it has to do a stupid timelapse, so my footage sucks.
This is the worst experience I've ever had. I've had the camera for two years now and I've never, ever been able to either download the captures through the Android app or upload anything to their cloud. Getting it connected to a WiFi network to begin with is extremely painful. After several hours of waiting for uploads it just sits at 0 of whatever I have. The Highlights apparently only work with the cloud, which is impossible to use. I'm moving to DJI since their cameras are better anyways.
This app serves little purpose, other than to annoy you with subscription notifications and offers. If you have a PC, don't bother, as all it really offers to those who would never use the "cloud," is a live view of the GoPro screen on your mobile. You don't need this app at all if you can view and edit content on your PC. I really don't see any use for this app otherwise. It nags you, constantly, to pay for a cloud subscription every time you open it, and sends push notifications for the same.
I have Premium. The app works well for most things, but for creating my own highlight reels it ALWAYS crashes or can't finish preparing my edits. I have seen other reviews saying the same, but versus doing anything about it, they like to blame your device. They also won't let you use this feature on anything but the mobile app. I can see my media on my laptop, but not my auto-generated highlights or My Edits. I'm giving it 1 star until they fix it or refund me for this.
Won't let me sign in to an app I have paid for for the last 2 years, so I just cancelled. Fix your app. I already uninstalled and reinstalled. It's junk. Edit: Going on vacation today. Just resubscribed again to use the app while I'm away. Same issue again. Keeps telling me to contact support. Why is this still an issue? I had a subscription for the month of May and used it then on a trip. It was fine. Now, we're back to issues.
