This is a great way to scan and save documents, receipts, and more. Scan as many pages as you need, apply filters to each image as needed to improve contrast, change to black/white or grey scale, and highlight colors. Excellent for scanning receipts and related paper docs for expenses, health care tracking. Also great for scanning physical photos.
I've been using Camscanner for over a year and everytime I open it its something new different pissing me off. Downloaded Lens today, with a few other and Im keeping Lens! This app is incredibly simple, easy to use. I've scanned 50 documents already (Lots of scanning involved in my work) Haven't seen one ad. Simple 1 tap to save to any platform or one drive or your local storage and rename the file. Compared to Camscanner some days 3 taps some days 10 taps, Im so happy.
Great for digitizing documents. I use it all the time for signed documents I need to send. Replaces what faxes we're for. I especially like how I don't need to square up to the document as it somehow accounts for me holding my phone at a angle. I also love how I can create a number of formats such as image, PDF, or even a OneNote page. I then can share a link to the document which allows someone to download the document without even having a Microsoft account. There are so much more. Love it!
I've had this app over a year now and haven't had any issues! (knock on wood lol) I love it! I haven't used my computer to scan documents in forever now! This app has simplified so much for me! I don't have to wait for my scanner to scan several documents anymore, then save them, then move them to a folder, etc. Now I take pictures of them and save them to an email (or whatever I'm doing), it's that freaking simple! Thank you Devs! This app is the best!
It's a nice app, especially if you have an outlook account. When you save it, it saves directly to your account after you log in once, and you can also choose what to save it as (pdf, jpeg, etc. . .). The only thing is, if you have bad lighting, sometimes the scanner won't pick up the edges of your paper. Which is a given for any scanner, but if you're in a rush it can cost you time. It doesn't have pop up ads like some other scanners I've used so that's also a plus.
I have used this PDF Lens for so many ways to make my life easier. Scanning Birthday cards or other cards to save instead of a box holding them. Scanning personal docs or business documents. Scanning receipts. I do Not have to wait to go somewhere to PDF something and save in a folder. I can scan, PDF and save to my OneDrive wherever I am whenever I want. Then quickly discard what I had and remove the possibility of clutter building that chokes my energy. I am free!!:-) Thank you Microsoft.
Useful tool when working with papers which you want to archive digitally. Found no way to start over with the scanning of a multi page document though, without cumbersome one bg one page deletion. It was also not clear to me that almost all save options aren't pdf. Would also be nice if there would be a "black, gray and white" filter.
Update: app has been improved since my last review. I haven't lost a scan in months. And it works faster and smoother than ever. I got a new phone, a ZTE, and it crashes. Old: It's the easiest way to get receipts into OneNote. BUT! it occasionally loses a scanned receipt! Happens only when connection is lost during transfer but still. They should bug check these more thoroughly.I rightfully get angry when this happens as I end up paying for that missing receipt out-of pocket - ouch!
So far, I've only used Lens to crop documents, but it works well. What I like is how it takes the irregular shape & squares it up. It is a little tedious to manually find the 4 corners. (I didn't see an auto function - that would be great. Or, if it would zoom-in on the corner.) I also like that it gives several options for the output format.
Overall, a great app. My only gripe is that it's a little difficult to navigate between the file browser and the camera. For example, the 3 dot menu disappears once you go into settings from the camera, same with "my files". "My files" takes you to the camera files section and then the bottom image from the camera takes you to the overall files navigation and then from there it's difficult to navigate back to the camera. Microsoft, just make the navigation consistent!
Great app, never had an issue. Always gets reinstalled after a device reset. Unfortunately, some Microsoft moron thinks that CoPilot is an adequate substitute despite not having a tenth of the capability as Lens. Don't bother installing unless you need it right now. Not only are they removing it from the play store, it won't work by the end of the year.
Once upon a time this worked perfectly, but now requires you to sign in, which doesn't work, and spits out the error "too many requests" (on my first sign in attempt). Why does everything have to be so complicated?; it used to work. Devs are obviously not very ept. Would recommend an alternative to Microsoft, such as Genius Scan
Simple, just enough options to be very useful, and is usually very quick. I don't know if the OCR is any good but the other picture / doc exports are quick, plus OneNote supported (no Evernote, unfortunately, but not surprising) EDIT: now features have been traded out if you don't agree to increased data logging, which includes personal info.
This was my go-to app for scanning documents quickly and easily, for many years. Until 2025 arrived and Microsoft automatically linked the app to my work (Teams) account, and now personal files scanned through the app are being uploaded to my work, and then access to view or download or share the files is blocked (unless I wanted to share them with work colleagues who have no business seeing them). Well done for completely breaking a wonderful product and making it useless to me.
