Convenient when it works, but very glitchy; lately won't process a time extension (keeps saying the app is not available). Have to wait for time to expire and then create a new session. Sometimes I get logged out, or it doesn't have my license plate filled in even though it's the default. Overall it beats a parking meter, but should be so much better.
The updated application is charging an undisclosed (or not easily revealed) extra $.20 for every transaction (including when one needs to extend the parking session) even though the charge is internal against user's Flowbird eWallet. The charge is seen only once upon transaction completion and cannot be seen again when one tries to look it up in the sessions list. I also was unable to locate a way to see the transaction history reflecting the additional charges.
Highly disappointed recently. For most part, I was initially satisfied. However, I recently had a billing issue and faced the labyrinth that is customer service. FAQs says you can resolve billing issues through the app (where?), or contact 311. Call the general number and get a voice system that directs to press 5 for more options, except it's an invalid entry. No contact box on the webpage or other alternatives to reach out. Basically, my card was charged but my account was not refilled. Beware
Frustrating! Almost always: Issue 1. The app forgetting my car, and asking me to renter it. Because of this I have to go and "my account"/vehicles before paying for parking. Issue 2. It is forgetting to notify me when it is expiring. Issue 3. When manually entering the zone # pressing enter it is changing it to some other zone #. Suggestion: Why I can't stop the time! Let's say I payed for 2 Hours, and came back to my car in 30 minutes. Why I can't get reimbursed for the 1 hour and 30 minutes!
What a pain. It took me almost 30 minutes to get new one set up. At least the meter locator seems more accurate. Update: Could it get worse? Yeah. I went to use the app to park and had to replenish my acct. The app has forgotten all my credit card info. So I have to do that now in the middle of the street while I'm parking. Then it doesn't take it. WTH? Easier to get the parking pass from the machine at this point. How does this have 4.5 stars when it hasn't gotten a positive rating in 2 months?
I am being charged an extra twenty cents each time I add time. This never happened before. I have my card saved to eWallet. I even tried the auto replenish, thinking that might stop the charges, but it doesn't allow me to enter anything less than $25 so as soon as it falls below that amount another $25 is added. I had to disable the replenish feature. So it's either pay the extra twenty cents or have twenty-five dollars added as soon as I fall under twenty-five dollars. Latest Update SUCKS!!!
Horrible to use!!! Have two cars and when both cars are out like today, it's impossible to assign each car to seperate zones! The app keeps crossing the plates!!! So...I'm getting tickets!!! Of course customers service says to download the receipts from the app and write an explanation. Let's see how "easy" that's gonna be!!! I rate them a zero!!
It's not possible to reset your password. The reset link never arrives and if it does, it claims it's no longer valid because of how long it took. At the same time, the meters on the street are no longer functional and able to accept payment, so you're stuck unable to pay in any form. It's also not possible to make a new account if you have a previous one with your phone number registered to it. Please go back to working with ParkMobile - worked great and accepted in multiple cities.
You need to keep money in an account now, can't pre pay for parking, pay a fee to add money to your account, the app sometimes prevents you from paying for no reason, physical parking meters are being removed, parking in one zone is not transferrable to another, and may other issues. This is making parking harder and more expensive. It's just another cash grab.
Paid for my parking, still got a ticket. Disputed it through the pay or dispute app, that was not enough. I had to print the receipt and send that by snail mail. Then, my ticket was cancelled. And, they are still holding my $25 that I put a few months ago when that was the only way to pay, and then it didn't work. Even though I emailed to inquire about that. The money never transferred when a new account was required, same email and phone. No response. I am uninstalling...
Useless and not consumer friendly. Payment by credit card carries a service fee, which can be as much as 80% on short parking needs. Also you must purchase parking in specific time intervals which generally leads to paying for more time than used. NYC should have partnered with the PaybyPhone app, used in other cities across the country. That app allows you to select the exact time you wish to park until and charges you the calculated amount for that specific amount of time. Simple & easy.
Downloaded to pay for parking the same day. Was able to create an account (though verifying a phone number shouldn't be necessary for something like this and feels invasive). App wouldn't let me add a credit card. I didn't get an error, it just took me to an empty screen with no text or buttons. Cool. We tried on my partner's phone, exact same behavior (also Android). I tried to call ParkNYC and was kept on hold for 15 minutes before I hung up, I had somewhere to be. Bad app.
Usually pretty convenient but I just paid for a session, received a receipt (didn't screenshot) the session started, and I later checked how long was left on the session. When I get back, I find a ticket on my dash, I check the app and they conveniently have no record of the session at all and they didn't charge my card (I didn't think I needed to check). Will consider updating my review if their customer service takes care of the ticket somehow.
Prepaid $25, used 3-4 now can't even buy a ticket at all. They should update to fix it or refund everyone's money. It doesn't work, do not install or under any circumstances give them $. I'd update it to no stars it's a scam, they updated the app, and I had to reset the password, the email keeps getting lost and the freshly refilled wallet will be theirs to keep. Very bad.
Couldn't pay through app. Couldn't pay on website. Couldn't pay through automated phone service. And operators don't take payments over the phone. After 40 minutes of trying to make a payment in the 102° heat. I went inside for 5 minutes. Came out and found a $35 ticket. App sucks , website sucks. Service sucks....
unusable app, no way to add payment method, just says "card must be approved" with no way to advance. called support got no help, ended up with a ticket as I had spent an hour trying to make this app work. the fact there is no way to pay with a card or coins anymore is absolutely ASININE and beyond frustrating. now I have to waste more time fighting a ticket because this absurd app is making everything 100x harder than it needs to be.
Message saying service isn't available almost every time I open the app. Constantly logging me out. Need to reset the app pretty much every time I use it. Occasionally can't even log in and receive a message telling me I have the incorrect login info even though I couldn't even make a log in attempt. App broken but if you want to park in NYC without going to the meter then you have no choice.
App never works. Continues to say my card must be approved for online purchases with no instructions, whatsoever. Tried to call, but they hung up twice because they couldn't figure it out. The meter is there, but doesn't accept payments and says to install the app, and the app does not work. Ended up parking somewhere else and paid over $50. A big city like NYC should have a more convenient way for street parking if not multiple options.
Terrible app. Try to add e-wallet but can't make payment because it won't let me add a bank card. Delete e-wallet since I cannot make a payment to it without the bank/ credit card. Call customer service and the nice lady tells me their app just doesn't work for some phone (I'm using Samsung). Had to do it on the website (which keeps forcing the app to open so you have to delete the app on your phone first). Now they have the audacity to charge fee for card payment. Can't add e-wallet now.
It wouldn't let me put just $16 on the payment method/card. I had to have a minimum of $25. The app seemed to allow me to do it, but online I wasn't able to enter anything less than $25. When I tried to use the payment method I just loaded on the app ($16 value), I received an error that the "payment method must be approved for online purchases." That's about the worst, most pointless error message ever. I had my friend login on a laptop, since I had to catch the ferry. Stupid. Bad design.
